Hello, I almost had a deal done on a 308 but it has been put on hold for a few weeks due to seller as of today. So meanwhile I will keep searching for something else until he is ready...
Looking for 83-85 QV or a Testarossa. I am familiar with most of the ones advertised here and other outlets and nothing has jumped at me yet. Looking to see if any members here have one,or know of one which is not on the normal outlets. Or possibly entertaining selling and have not advertised yet. In a perfect world it would be in central Texas so I can put my hands on it. Please let me know if you have one or know of one.
    Thanks.

I've had a 328 before and am told the driving experience is a lot like a 308. With that said, focus your efforts on a recently serviced TR. Thought process detailed below:

    1) Less worry about rust
    2) More fun
    3) Great Sound
    4) Overall it is a much neater car
    5) No lack of power

    Cons
    1) 308 will appreciate past the TR more than likely or be about the same as a v12 vs. low powered classic v8..

*If you want a driver, get the TR..

Thank you everyone for all the emails and leads. It looks like I incredibly lucked out. Through the Ferrari club chapter here in Austin I was able to find a very clean 1986 Testarossa right here in my home town! The funny thing is that I already knew the car and had been in it before. I just didn't know the owner was considering a sale. Deposit has been given and pending a PPI on Tuesday I should have her home by Wednesday.
While I was searching, the original 308 I was looking got the green light as well. I liked that car so much that I decided to get it as well. Just couldn't pass it up even with the Testarossa. The 308 should be ready by the end of the month hopefully. So it looks like I am ending up with two instead of one. Can't tell you guys how excited I am!
Pictures to follow as soon as each one arrives.

Great news! The Testarossa passed the PPI on Tuesday afternoon. It was almost the end of the day so I had a small window to get a ride to the shop to pick it up. Luckily the shop is not that far from my house so I literally ran about 6 miles to go and get it!!! I brought it home and I had it for a total of 24 hours. It was dropped off today for a complete engine out service plus whatever else it needs. The bad news is that it won't be ready for about three weeks :(
Now I am waiting on the 308. It looks like the 308 will make it here just before this one is ready...
    It's gonna be a lonnnggg 2-3 weeks.
I tried to put up some pictures but for some reason the "manage attachment" is not showing. But I was able to put up some pictures in "my garage" section. You can see them there for now. I'll try to put up some pictures tomorrow.

I'm curious what the major service costs on a testarossa, I've run across one in my budget but will need a major, everyone closed till Monday and money is burning a hole in my pocket

I was told between 6 to 12 grand depending on what all it needs. I'll let you know when it's ready and when I get the final bill.

I was at the shop today. The car should be ready by Friday. It looks like the bill will be right around eleven grand as of right now. That includes a new alternator and AC compressor and a rebuilt water pump. Of course that is not including the tax and new set of tires which are incoming...

Wow, reviving a 10 year old thread! That engine out from 10 years ago was done at Moorespeed in Austin.
