But is comparing the real-time depreciation of a '92 348 to a '01 996TT really fair? The 348 is WAY further down its curve. Its like me saying a 2005 430 depreciates like a rock compared to my 2001 996TT.......which is true. Thats why I was focusing my points on the last year 355, the first year 360 (both '99) and an early 996TT.

As far as the interior goes, you could upgrade a Porsche to your taste. I don't have a lick of plastic showing in mine, its all leather or carbon fiber. To me, a 348 is loaded with plastic......and sticky plastic at that.

I certainly don't blame someone for buying a Ferrari, thats why I'm here......

I really like my Turbo, but I am in love with the Ferrari. If I had the means, I would keep the Turbo and mod it out to 500 Hp. My list above the coil overs I already did: exhaust, chip, intake, intercooler, short shifter, maybe tires and wheels and brake pads. It's about $10K, maybe less. I got to sell it before I talk myself into another project! :D

I agree that you really want to have ferrari. sort of dumb statement on my part. who doesnt want one. but you have to balance the impractical side of having such a car. I will probably never take either the TT or 355 to a track/race. just don't have time or real interest. just want an exotic to drive on the weekends to make me feel better about the hard work between mon and frid, not that i don't work a bunch of weekends as well.

practically aside, the thought of having a red ferrari to drive is exhilarating.

but the thought of warning lights, shrinking dashes, gummy whatever, manifold, valves, gives me chest pain..

    schizo that i am.

thanks for the great discussion guys.

I am sure someone else has asked. Have you driven a 355 yet? They are very different cars. In my opinion, and I also have a 911, the Ferrari is more beautiful to drive. Forgive the poor English but I can think of no better way to say it. As an aside, I had a chance to drive both cars this weekend - except the Porsche would not start so I had to drive the Ferrari twice. In either event buy the nicest car you can afford.

Believe me, I was in the same dilemma... I never look back to Porsche, may be when I get my second sport car, not exotic car... ;)
