WTB: 458 Challenge Car

It was on my radar when I was looking, but I found one before making the trip to Atlanta to look at it. Was listed at $150k at the time, looked a bit rough from the back (it needs minimally a new bumper, diffuser, I’m sure a bunch of other things).

Most of these cars have had multiple owners, been raced and dinged, and don’t have a lot of service history. It’s not at all like buying the street version - I don’t think one can escape some element of risk. I’ve been pretty lucky in that I haven’t been in over my head in repairs - just a lot of tweaks. I’d have known by now if I bought a true dud.

At very minimum, I’d pull the bottom panels off and have a good look underneath, look at calipers, brakes, rotors, look at the inside really well, etc.

The diagnostics kit (VCI box) is an expensive item; I’d look for that as well as other spares that might come with a car like this.

 

I am pretty sure I drove that car if Taurino had it. Yes. It is a ****box. The transmission leaks all over the place.

 

I ended up purchasing a 458 from another Ferrari challenge team, it was the principals car. Came with spares and everything ready to go.

I know Scuderia Corsa race team in Vegas has a good condition 458 for sale.

$179k seems bit high for 28k miles but maybe not considering this very low mileage blue (errr green) 458C EVO one at $379k!

No affiliation to any of these cars. Here's a non-EVO that just got listed. Not sure of its mileage but appears to have been set up to be driven on the street given street tires and rear license plate brackets/screws.
