Is it me or are prices for these softening a little? I check wirewheel.com pretty regularly and some nice, clean title cars have been listing in the lower-mid 40s where they were all about $50K over the summer. Right now there's a great looking 06 in titanium over black leather w/50k miles, sport/touring packages, clean title, factory hardtop listed at $43900.
That's about right for the mileage. Usually, the ones in the 50's have low mileage. But, as I've said before, I think the prices will soften abit with the Emira coming out.
Elise prices have also been very seasonal over past few years so just thinking we are getting to that time of year. If not a bright/desirable color, and not <30k miles, then the seasonality becomes more relevant. I'm sure we'll see someone bump this thread come March or April with money in their pocket and an itching for a summer toy.
I owned 2 Elises back in the day. Awesome driving cars, were underpowered though. Lost my white one to a deer. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
They have been and are hard to find in the US- My SO and I searched and waited for years before the perfect one came along. Amazing car!!! Many have been tracked and trashed or heavily modded so pristine non-messed with ones are difficult to find but worth it. Hers is a 2009 SC and the supercharger really makes a difference- Also has the Touring package so seats are a bit nicer and has hard top etc. My local Ferrari dealer is also a Lotus dealer so happy to keep my eyes open- Or put you in Direct contact with my guy there. Enjoy the chase- Worth the effort and patience! Cheers
Thanks! We've decided to put the search on hold for a while, but if you see a particularly nice one, I wouldn't mind being told about it.
The Exige top is fastened exactly the same way an an Elise top is. It is very nice when topless! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
The Exige hardtop is a little more difficult to take off than the Elise soft top, but it can be done. (As seen in my profile pic.)
It is an extremely fast car. It took 3 years to build. I didn't put anything extra in it like A/C, carpet, insulation so earplugs are mandatory. The best thing I did to it was fit 11 inch wide wheels up front with 295/30/18 to better match the 335/25/18 rear tires. Instantly made dry sump mandatory. I put Holley Stealth ram efi on it and that is so much better than even the best carb. My daughter designed a livery for the car recently, it looks a lot better than black!
It does extremely well on track. It is durable and very fast. It has an alloy Dart Racing V8. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thsnk you. Ive seen one at the track before. As with many component cars it needed lots more sorting to work and the suspesion it had was really for the road, seen the same thing when a Noble shows up, great potential but didnt work.. I built up a superformance Gt40 with dart block 302 bored out. 575 hp was awesome but the car just couldnt hold up structuraly and the old tech suspension/brakes really wasn't great for modern track. The exige v6 I have is significantly quicker around a track with 1/3 less hp even if its slower down some straights. How does it compare to your lotus on track, i know the Ultimas were designed by lee Noble so should handle great if sorted, but sometimes these massive powered cars can be too much to deploy and drive well. yeah been thinking of one for a while.
I installed much stiffer springs and adjusted the shocks. The addition of 50 mm front tire width was transformative for the car. Now, back to the Lotus!!!!
We certainly love our Elise, I think it has about 6,500 miles on it now and needs to be driven. I compared it closest to the F40. Raw, every pebble heard, and felt, bare aluminum floors vs Kevlar and CF, light, fast. But whereas the Lotus is an angel, the F40 is a god..... Image Unavailable, Please Login
