I'll try Petrolheads.com and see if that works, but they may just be having major problems with their server. Steve - I think Simon managed about 182mph in the Murci after he got into the swing of things Top speed (and this is from memory) was the AMG SL65 with 189, the guy I went down with in the Porsche 996 DMS hit a pretty respectable 188 (194 on speedo) and a few of the others did 188s. Most fun from my perspective was a three way split between MODs 993TT, taking 90 degree lefthanders at 110mph - Shady's Aston DB9, sideways at 90mph, and passing the BRAKE NOW! sign still accelerating... and the Scooby... on the edge sideways fun big style Great day out!
Hi chaps, its your favorite marshall and host here I spoke to Ted last night, but I'd rather not say anything in here. Can you mail me via my profile and I'll tell you what I know. Cheers, Greg
Be careful about the 188mph claims. At the end of the day the display jammed at 188mph for about 10 minutes and a number of cars thought they had got 188mph, several of which knew it was not possible i.e. they had been substantially slower all day. If DMS did it early in the day though then I'm sure it is genuine. Guy
It is still down ? Welcome Greg - great organisation yesterday (I was with Simon in the Murci - bloody hell that car gets some attention on the road !!) Rick
Its still down, I'm afraid. No ETA is available. Our man on the bridge is doing all that he can, I shall continue to update as and when I get information. Thanks for your support and patience with us on this, Greg PS - thanks to all for the warm welcome.
Hi RUF - I think Rob's (Rods) speed was accurate as he'd done 183 in the morning, then he seemed to get warmed up! His digital readout was saying 194 against the laser's 188 so it sounds as if it might be somewhere near. Those RUF's don't sound arf bad do they
Is this an unoffical PH gathering until the site is back up? Al, what top speed did you manage on Sunday? Nick
No, although there is a backup plan in hand! I didn't take my car down - I was with Rods in his 996 DMS - he managed 188 on the laser showing 194 on the car's digi speedo.
fantastic ..... i book the ferry for last weekend ..... then the boys say "we're not going for a run on the sat. 'cos we're off to brunters on the sunday" .... i message "pistonheads" to book my spectator spot for sunday, only to be told "sorry, no spectators" ..... cancel ferry ..... lose £15 as a result .... get a pm on monday morning saying we apologise for people getting in that were not invited (suggests i could have gone anyway) And now to rub the salt in ..... the p'heads website is down, so all the "unsubscribed" pistonheaders are enjoying themselves on this site. Sorry boys, but you can stuff the next Vmax right up your fu<kin @rses. regards, david
whoa! Cool your jets Dave, we're all on then same side! I didn't realise you had planned on coming over and booked ferries or I would have tried my hardest to get you included somehow or other. The only spectators there, or that should have been there, were people passengering in paying cars. This is purely so that Craig does not have to get bogged down with massive insurance issues, catering, toilets, tickets and the like... all which would a) put the cost up (as a lot of spectators just wouldn't pay) and b) turn it away from being the friendly laid back day that it is. I also push F.Chat to P.Headers as I do P.Heads on here. We all just love our cars and driving them. Some right royal *anker has taken it upon themselves to f**k up several mainstream sites... it could easily have been F.Chat too. I think that it is great that guys who normally frequent P.Heads immediately turn to a like minded friendly site to keep the flow of information going. I can see why you feel pretty peed off and can only hope you don't stay mad for too long. al.
Yes, do try and book for the next one Dave. Al is right, if you had mentioned you wanted to come I am sure you could have passengered with someone to the event. Two v-max's ago many spectators turned up (many uannounced), didn't pay the stipulated fiver entrance fee to subsidide driver's costs....a real mess altogether. Thats why only passengers of drivers participating in the event are allowed now, and the event is better for it IMHO. It is not being snobby, just plain fact. I thought f-chatters would welcome new members such as Greg and Guy, both nice chaps who are involved with v-max and contribute a lot to Pistonheads, which many f-chatters frequent also. Thanks Martyn.
And to clarify, Dave, I post equally on PH and FC. I happen to know a few guys who do as well. FC is not PH, but at the present time it is the only way I can track down some of my "sparring" partners. VMax is a great day by all accounts. Sounds like you had a miserable weekend. I know how you feel. But don't let that put you off the next one. regards,
for the record Dave, its up to you when you book your ferry etc etc so dont moan here when you had to cancel it. The first communication I had from you was late last week to which I immediately replied. I'm sorry you I couldnt allow you entry & I did have the courtesy to both email you & pm you to apologise (not that I have to). You didnt even reply. The odd 2/3 people who did come to vmax uninvited just turned up as I told you. Sorry! Hardly my fault. Whether you come to the next vmax or not is largely inconsequential to me but I will give you the opportunity if you'd like although it sounds like you dont want to. and lastly, for the record, I've been on fchat for considerably longer than you, take a look at the old site & maybe have a think next time before you start slinging the mud.

I'm really tight on numbers on this one. Best Regards, craig i understand ... thanks, david
