I am very sorry about what happened to you. Fortunantely I've never had any of my cars vandalized. I hope you get to the bottom of it. I'll gladly give you the windshield at my cost, I don't even want to profit from a situation like this, I just want this poor Ferrari to be returned back to the beauty it was.

Apologize for your night being ruined and wish you the best of luck in the future.

    Forza,
    Kevin

    john,

sorry to hear about that. the picture makes me sick to my stomach....as a small consolation, i am sure you were glad the body wasn't damaged.

what possesses people/kids to do such senseless things is beyond me..
i am certain she will be back in good health soon. good luck.

    John -

I'm really sorry to hear about the windshield. Insurance will take care of you, and in the end, you'll have a brand new, chip free windscreen. Yes, it stinks that you'll be out-of-commission for a few days while a new one is located, but don't sweat the small stuff. It's only a car and it'll be fixed, good-as-new.

All the sheet metal is intact, right? If it was just a baseball bat to the glass, you're actually quite fortunate. The big money is in metal work and paint. (I know, that doesn't diminish the pain...)

Hang in there. What separates "us" from "them" is how we deal with adversity.

im at the point now where i feel like just selling the car. ever since i ve owned it i have had nothing but worries about it, always afraid of crap like this hapening. you cant take it to a store because you dont want to leave it alone for a second, you cant park it in front of your house either ! , while driving it you, at least me, always at least once a day get negative verbal remarks ! jealous jer koffs !! is waht it comes down to. and i firmly believe or should i say think its not worth having it. tooooo much agrivation and heart ache ! ya, its nice to get compliments but too many cons than pros. this is something i will think long and hard about, but im leaning towrds selling her.
whats next theft ??? i know the insurance will take care of things but there is no payment for heart ache and disgust. i think i would rather be the person who drools over someone elses ferrai and gives them the compliments. at least i can go home at not worry about sh^t like this.

Nobody likes unforeseen expenses and events, and I know we’ve all become angry and wanted to sell our vehicles at some point when we realize they suddenly need repairs. Sure, the car will be fixed, but changes must be made to keep this from happening again; otherwise, you’ll just worry yourself to death constantly thinking about what might happen. I see no point in having so much stress in your life from owning a car, so selling it might indeed be an option. I can relate to some aspects here, since I don’t feel I can leave the F-car where I don’t have a full view of it. Some people act too stupid around it. I also believe what goes around, comes around, so someday there will be a few more diaper-wearing punks in prison or simply toe-tagged on a morgue table…

This event reminds of when I got hit in the rear while stopped at a stop light (in my BMW) by some jerk in a Lexus convertible. He got out and said "if anyone should be upset it's me, my car is much more expensive than yours" he then turn to my wife and said "what are you doing with this guy, i'm much better looking than he is". WTF?

Well I lost it and started cursing like a sailor...I regret that I tried to verbally provoke him to hit me. In my frustration I thought some jail time for assaulting me would be appropriate. This world is full a$$holes.

I hope the punks end up being prosecuted for the damage to your car.

No words to explain how pi$$ed I am for you. Having said that, do not sell your car. If you do, they win.

Replace the windshield and you'll be back to normal. Dane

Sorry to hear about your car! It's disgusting that people think it's OK to act in such a way!

The day I brought my brand new shiny 360 home, a similar thing happened to me. I was taking a friend's 7 yr old son for a run round the block in the 360, when I returned, some young deviant had kicked the front wing in on my new XJR parked in my driveway, on MY property! He bragged about it round the area, and I soon found out who it was, a lowlife scumbag from a poor family (so no hope of compensation from the parents).

    Guess what I did...... NOTHING!

I FELT like taking him on a long, lonely drive into the woods, and treating him to a bit of natural justice, but would I RISK jail-time for scum like him...NO, of course not!

I love all these keyboard vigilantes, they are SO brave! Of course they would KILL anyone who did it to THEM! Yeah, right! Or beat them half to death with a baseball bat....GET REAL!

If you KILLED a kid, how much over an hour do you think it would take the Police to arrest you? If you beat him up, it would be 20 minutes after he regains consciousness! And you would DO TIME!

So if you feel like making the leap from innocent victim to ruthless thug, then follow some of the advice posted here, but in all probability, you'll do just what I did and put it behind you!

I know it's unfair, but it's what life is like now! If you go the route of tracing the kid, unless you are VERY lucky and he has responsible parents, you run the risk of being his target for evermore. Remember, idiots who vandalise other peoples' property have already shown no respect for the rule of law, so he will see YOU as the bad guy, and may make your life thoroughly miserable!

Please don't sell your Ferrari, you know how much fun it is, it even takes your mind of some of the sh*tty bits of life!

That just plain sucks donkey balls!

People just have no respect. I wouldn't doubt one bit that it had something to do the the kid your son is having problems with. You must go to the kid's house with the cops.

Man I'm getting pissed the more I think about it.

He'll get his in the end. Carma, bro, carma.

John, in that case, you should get rid of the BMW, too... After all, they damaged the mirror on it, right...?

Don't let others' jealousy and hatefulness ruin a rare and privileged experience that you have... i know you're absolutely infuriated; hell, i would be, too; anyone would be, that's totally understandable... But you've obviously worked your bits and pieces off to get to where you are now and you're enjoying the fruits of your own labors - don't let the would-bes and have-nots bring you down... Fück them...

    John,
I'm a tenth grader so I might be able to lend some assistance. I know how things like this work and how these kids will act. The best idea is to wait one or two weeks. This will give time for everything to cool down and make the little f***ers feel like they won. That's when they'll start talking and in a few days everyone in the school will know. Have your son or yourself go to the school and post up flyers with a reward for any information leading to an arrest. $1000 will make any high school kid put in some effort to find out who did it. Recently in my town there was some vandalism at a fair ground where a dump truck was stolen by some kids. The Lions club offered a reward and the kids were caught a few weeks later cause they told everyone about it. Just be patient for a few weeks then start your search. And by all means press charges.

A mature suggestion from a young F-Chatter. John, my sincere sympaties on this one as both my wife's and my BMW's have been vandalism recipients on several occasions..to date my Ferrari has been spared the insult, but then again, she's always garaged and not let out of my sight when not.

As for the perpeterators of this, I agree, let the dust settle, then post a reward in the schools. This is not Al-Qaida, these punks WILL brag..and they WILL be turned in to you for some cash. Update the police and notify your insurance company of the suspects. Let them seek restitution from the kid or his/her family. Handle it civilly and you will get satisfaction without any risk to yourself. I strongly suspect you have much more to lose than the ****** who damaged your car.

Nonetheless, my sympathies, that sucks. Good luck in the repair..she'll be better than ever!

If and when you find the perps, don't just settle for the cost of repair. Make sure that they do a little time to boot. 2, 3, 4 weekends in community service sounds about right.

Last note: I replaced the windshied on the 348. You can get them pretty cheap, identical product, but it doesn't have the Ferrari name on it. That makes a difference on resale, but if you plan on driving the car for a while, might not make any difference. google Ferrari windshields, and you'll find the vendors. Cost for the factory replacemnt: 1800, for the knockoff: 1000 (both are uninstalled, and DO NOT include the frame, which should be replaced).
