From what I've read in the f-chat archives and other tech sources, x-pipes can increase torque output of a cross-plane-crank V8. But what about a V12? What does the x-pipe do for the sound and torque output of the 65 degree Ferarri V12? My *guess* is that the banks should be separated for best torque output.

    Do race-prepped 550s or 575s use an x-pipe?

Here's a page on crank styles from an f-chat poster:

race 550/575 run straight pipes that dump behind the fender or door. On a street car the only advantage of a x-pipe will be to clean up the sound. For max power gains you would not run an X-pipe. The only problem is straight pipes tend to resonate. We have a very mild merge on our systems.
