So, I am in the early stages of deciding which Jag Sedan I want.

Since I will keep the Ferrari, I have no need for the XJR :) So I am considering the XJ8 or XJ8L 2004-2007.

Anyone care to comment on the model year differences for the X350s? Also, any Standard vs Long Wheel base comments? I plan to use as a partial daily driver, long trip vehicle, and family sedan.

    Thanks,
    dsd

I presently owned a 2003 XJ8 3.5 SE SWB. This engine is not avaliable in the US but the rest are the same as the 4.2 Lit you have. My experience for North American drivers, generally taller than ROW, suggest a long wheel base model for the extra legroom for the back. As to engine, you have a choice of the Super8 which is the XJR S/C engine in a long wheel base body, or the standard XJ8 4.2 Lit for the LWB. My experience , watch for the service history, with focus on the air suspension which is extremely costly to replace. Minor item such as the fuel sensor/pump. The auto box is known to be Ok but do change the transmission oil after 60000 miles. They said its sealed for life but worth the $$$ . Tires are expensive as they run on either 18/19 ins. do check around as you have a wider choice in the States. Engines, either the normal aspirated/S/C are great motors and the drive is good as they all have the CAT suspension. Interior is first class with the usual wood/leather. Being all aluminum, the car is lighter than earlier X308 model but like Jaguar everywhere, the resale value is poor so you should do some checking on the value of perhaps 06/07. The newer XJ was launched in '07 but for minor cosmetic changes, I do not think its worth the extra $$. For me, I would get the Super 8 LWB. Almost as good as the Bentley Arnage for a third of the price.
