Melodie's 21 year old son lives with us (at least for another month) and he is an XBox freak. This week I started playing a road race game on it (Never played XBox before). Now I want one! My God what fun! Incredible graphics with lots of options. Just seeing if there are any other old farts out here that like XBox.

Ya, have one. Only games I ever really play on it are Project Gotham Racing (2001) and Project Gotham Racing 2 (2004).

My younger brother is really the one who puts the consoles to regular use.

I have one, but it gets used as a DVD player more than a console because I dont really have time to play games. I even quit playing computer games (buying a mac helped with that since they dont make CS for the mac).

I was a console gamer as a kid, and then after selling my Sega Saturn in 1995 took a few years off.

Then, in 2001, the day I saw a [pre-release] Xbox demo playing Project Gotham 1, I HAD to have one... so the day it came out I went and got one!

    Ah, good times.

BTW, Driver 3 is an awesome game, with the special gameplay modes that I find more fun than GTA.

The rumour that F-Cars were going to be in GT4 are false. But i do know where they got that idea from. Anybody the bought GT4 prolouge and watched the included DVD which showed Polyphony testing the cars could clearly see a 360CS and 360 being tested. As were 996 Turbos and GT-2's. Hell even i saw an M3 like mine being tested. But as it turns out, those cars were there for the fun of it and not for the game. The license for Ferrari and Porsche is out to EA and Microsoft. They got around it in GT3 because they included RUF cars in it. Effectively meant you could race a Porsche. But there was a big lawsuit in Germany as to wether RUF cars were entirly seperate cars to Porsche cars. Anyways you wont be seeing them in GT4. That sucks!

O poo, i still think 500+ cars will whet my appetite though. When does the Ea license end or do u know if they will be making a NFS thats not stupid underground.

The only NFS their making is Undergorund 2 at the moment. Where did i read about a ferrari specific game? Anyone???
Yeah 500+ cars is great for GT4.
But theres one thing: All the diffferent version of cars!!
    Eg:
    Mitsubishi Lancer Evo VIII

    GSR
    RS
    MR
    WRC
    GTC
    MR-II
    Mines
    Bozz Speed

They are all variants of basically one car. And all those version count towards the final count. And that's only for the VIII!!! Imagaine what how many all up are for the IV, V, VI, VII etc...
So what im saying is, yes, there are 500 cars, but there is only half that in totally different cars.
So its not as good as you 1st thought, but its still going to be the game of the year!

I think you are thinking of Forza Motorsport for the xbox. The game is going to be awsome. Not only can you get Ferraris you can modify them too! TVR is also there- they make hot cars aswell.
There is also damage that can occur to the car during a race, and I think they are toying around adding maintence costs part of the game.
    Here is a snippet:
"Microsoft has taken great pains in providing the most realistic physics to ever grace a racing sim. Every possible car-performance factor has been realized. Some of it you'll have trouble seeing, such as the fully working suspension systems, which can be modified to create greater stabilization. It's just not possible to see an eight-arm suspension at work, since it all happens underneath the car, but you'll definitely feel it.

Tires received some of the heaviest attention, as they affect performance much more than the casual racing fan may realize. Pressure, temperature, and wear aren't just long-term issues. Tires heat up as you race and will heat different depending on how you drive, where you drive, and what you drive. All of this affects friction -- which means traction (or lack thereof). Tires do not follow the Newtonian laws of physics. The more load on a tire, the less efficient it as at returning friction. The less friction you have, the less grip you've got on the track. Driving then, when mixed with smart and accurate physics, becomes more realistic as you are forced to think about how much speed you can put into a turn without spinning out. And trust me, with the assists off, if you try and drive like you're in Project Gotham Racing, your tail will be up a divider without a paddle.

Of course, the other standard physics considerations are all accounted for as well. There are hundreds of mathematics being calculated every second of a race for every car -- including AI drivers -- and your handling and modding make a huge difference. Not only will every car online look unique, because of the exhaustive modding options and the variation in handling by a million different drivers, every car will race differently online as well."
