This question ultimately pertains to RACING games for said machines.

What is the difference in all these toys ?
They seem to be priced about the same (too much), but beyond that, what's the difference ?
If I wanted to buy one of them, and I like F1 racing-type games, or flying games, what is the box of choice ? I'm not into shoot-em-up games at all, so I don't care about them, just racing.

Get the Xbox because they have the Project Gotham Racing series. Awesome game...Not sure about F-1.

GT kills any racing game. I bought the PS3 just to play GT 5 in the future. As for flying games, I don't know of any. PS3 would be your box of choice.

If you want the best racing simulation, get the PC sims. Console games are arcady.

Unfortunately Sony has the rights to F1 games therefore you can only get it for PlayStations, but you can download modded F1 versions for PC sims for free.

Pick up a copy of PC Gamer and you'll see that PC Gamers (at least Editors and writers) consider Console Gamers to be beneath them.

Well, considering you can easily pay $1800-2500 for a good "gaming" computer, versus $400-500 for an XBox or PS3, I'd certainly hope they look better.

gran turismo is a great game, but it's a far echelon below the 'simulators' available on desktops presently. the weigh-in though is that GT offers *loads* of content and a very entertaining package, on a very cheap system if you're comparing it to getting a desktop to do the same duties.

frankly i'm in the same mode at the moment as well... i want maximum return for my money as i don't have enough time to spare spending 10 hours playing a game to realize it's crap. either way GT has won my heart from the start so i'll be getting the next version no matter what it comes out on, but if you want to catch up on real race simulators best check-in at racesimcentral.com or blackholemotorsports.com.

For F1 you would be looking for a PS3. Everyone talks up the Gran Turismo series but I find them to be video lithium.

If you dont like shooters stay far away from Xbox, as thats pretty much all it has.

Your best bet is the Playstation 3.
