There is also one on ebay for $198,000. I don't know maybe the market is headed there, but more likely a bunch of scams. The problem with them is that they are here under "show and display", so you are limited to 2500 miles a year.

Those are higher than average market values. They are slowly climbing not falling as age marches on. You are correct about being show and display only. Only deft legal manuevering will net you more miles.. where there's a will and a deep pocketbook, there's a way!

It could be from lack of crash testing, or emmisions not being complient. Those are usually the main factors.
In reality owners probably won't even drive these cars 2,500 miles a year restricted or not.

Those cars arent worth more than that.

I have never been a fan. The interior is awful and the engine is a Turbo V6 ..Sounds horrible.

Good to know. I did not think the prices were so low, so I assumed it was scam. It would almost be a bargain supercar if it were not for the limitation on miles.

this is true and remember that these cars were used in the "fastmasters" series where many of them were beaten up a bit. most if not all were repainted to my knowledge.

the design however is nothing short of HOTTTT to this day!

i will defer to sunny as he may know better.

That Turbo V6 has more power than the prototype V12 did, and the V6 was originally intended for a race application.

I was hot-to-trot for an XJ220 recently and found a nice one at 170k. All it needed was a $40k service. Gag.
With Jaguars new position of no longer supporting these beasts it will turn them into display items only eventually.

Andrew has been around enough supercars to refine his own tastes! I have only rode in one for a short time. It is refined where the F40 is raw and the performance no less breathtaking.

Aside from that disparity and the shape, this car was designed as a side project by enthusiasts working for the bankrupt factory who were cut from the same cloth as those who formed the core at SVT or the //M division at BMW, for example, without the bankroll.

The purpose it serves now and in the future is symbolic to what Jaguar automobiles and the passion by those that built them used to be. The irony is that, success or failure, it is more a proper Jaguar than any model produced in the last 15 years with the exception of the R performance line.

The brits will have a cottage industry for the car. SPECIALISTS$$ are already taking care of the small fleet.

Everyone knows the car is gorgeous and fast. They are priced right. By the way, they are supercars with all that it entails.

The second prototype is for sale in England for something like US $140K I think.

Great post! Now that Aston is out of the picture Ford should allow Jaguar to do a special project to get some attention by beating some of the big names.

I know of a guy who dreamed of this car before he eventually got the Carrera GT. He said "some dreams are better left off as dreams" because the XJ220 just didn't deliever what it was supposed, eventhough he was not expecting so much from it.

They have one in there now waiting on a water pump. They have been waiting for a loooong time. Time to mill one from a block of aluminum ?

You guys should check out the $500,000 TWR XJ220 S that's for sale on dupont registry at the moment. It's on my dream car list for sure.

Realistically how many owners would drive these more than 2500 miles in a year anyways!?
