    First thought? It's an abomination.

Let them play "plug in" with something less haloed.

Yep... does take its soul away without the dual chrome exhaust singing its british sports car growl.

Despite being a dyed in the wool E-type fan (I bought my first over 40 years ago, and am now on my third, a 3.8 FHC) I rather fancy one of these.

My only issue is the dashboard etc., which is HORRIBLE!!! However, I would assume that the original could be retained. I wonder whether Jaguar will offer this as a conversion for existing owners' cars? “We have integrated the new electric powertrain into the existing E-type structure, which means a conventional engine could be reinstalled at any point,” would seem to suggest this.

Classic e type experience without the iCe is what. The cars handle like crap, the brakes are crap. Its all about he motor and the styling, remove the motor and 50% is lost. This is the opposite of future proofing classic cars. This less tasteful than a resto mod.

It would be more interesting for them to make a new modern electric classic styled car

I would scrap mine before I let them convert it for free.

    Is this really necessary?

Absolutely not. It’s virtue signaling. A complete waste of resources.

I would like to keep mine as it is, and have an electric one, too (so long as I could have one with the original interior).

An electric e-type sounds perfect. Get rid of that leaky, heavy lump and all the associated electrics, but keep the beauty.

I had a primrose yellow series 2 cab that I loved but that was based 100% on style. Everything else was hunk of junk, agricultural level and that includes the motor. Electric e type is fine by me.
