I have never owned one but they are probably my all time favorite British car. I would own one but I do not want to deal with maintenance. I hear they are a bit of a handful in that department.

Doc's Jags in Arizona would be who I would call to find out more. They service them and do some of the best restorations I have seen.

Not wanting to generate confrontation on this gentleman's thread, but there is a significant fraction of Jag owners, myself included, who would differ with your opinion on Doc's. No one in the Phoenix area with whom I'm familiar will use him for repairs, restoration, or acquisition. Classic Showcase in Oceanside, CA is the top Jaguar restorer in the West and cranks out trophy wining cars with ease.

FYI, there are several E-Types and XK's coming up for sale in this month's Scottsdale auctions:

You would do well to avoid Doc's. I have seen some real trash (represented as restored) come out of that place. One guy bought an XK140 that looked good at first but once it was on a lift there was so much rust that the body didn't sit square on the frame. This customer had paid top dollar, it wasn't even worth restoring properly.

    I've heard the same.

I saw a nice XK in the shop that did my Jag - it was an XK150 that had been basically a mess. The work this shop did was outrageously great (Terry Lippincott in Sinking Spring, PA) - really a nice looking machine.

Gents, check out Blazin's past form. Anything he posts on these boards needs to be taken with a very large pinch of salt or better still, be ignored completely. He was one of DrStrangelove's victims.

    Oh!
    Now they are OTS.
Great car! I had to put a different engine in mine. The engine had a bunch of rust and water in a couple cylinders. Lucky me there were lots of engines around. Still are..
I paid $100.00 for it ( the car) and probably more for the engine.
My girl friend, and my brother and I tried to drive it back to Wisconsin from Phoenix but it overheated by the time we made it to Fountain Hills. Probably not a bad thing with three of us (2 large) in that car. We had a 10 foot surfboard on top of a bamboo luggage rack to keep us shaded.
I hope those pricks who pulled the scam on me to get that zero rust XK120 for $60.00 read this.
So...Be sure to go look at that $125,000.00 XK whatever you are going to buy at Docs or where ever and check the car closely, and the competition and remember they made thousands of XK sporty cars. There are plenty of them out there and buying the most expensive doesn't mean you are going to have the best. You need to go look at that car and drive it for more than 4 miles.
    Enjoy
    Rich
