I have started to become interested in XKE series 2 roadsters. Saw an original one, very nice. What should I look for, and what is a good price. Thanks

I would look for rust, rust, rust. If it was repainted, look for signs of poor repair to body. As a monocoque, the body is the most important part of the car and will cost lots to have the body repaired right and repainted, if it was butchered - llike $30K.

Look at a lot, drive many and gain an understanding of a great car from average. Then, as with any car buy the best one you can. Spending money up front will be well worth it.

I just sold a series 1 in excellent condition for a bit more than 85K. I would think you can find a very, very nice series 2 OTS for $60K or less. But, if if you can, get a series 1.

I know one Series 1 OTS sold for idiotic money a few weeks back, but there are many etypes out there and many in excellent condition, don't rush.

I miss my car a bit and if I went back, I'd get a series 1 coupe and make it a street demon - upgraded brakes, upgraded suspension, dunlop wheels, 5 speed trans, better ignition and exhaust.

I too would purchase one from 62 to 67, covered headlights. The coupes look better than the convertibles, but obviously it depends on whether you want a convertible.
I have one of each, so unbiased!

There is a series 2 in the 50's that I looked at.

If your budget can withstand the increase go for the Series 1, '65-'67 in particular.

Make sure you fit in a Series I. They are smaller than the Series II.

After owning a Series II Roadster for many years, I agree with everything being said here. I sold the car years ago, but if I had to do it again I would get the Series I.
