Mike was like a father to me. When I got the phone call today, I was in shock when I heard and I still am in disbelief.

Mike, or XSSSIVE as we knew him here on f-chat, lived his life to the fullest; nobody can argue that. He was an extremely generous individual who always kept his friends close and put others first. He was a family man before all and devoted his life to his wife and daughter.

Mike's passing has shocked our community and those close to him. My thoughts and prayers are with his wife and daughter, as well as with those that truly knew him. Mike, I cannot thank you enough for all the experiences we've shared over the years and all the doors you've opened up for me. You will be deeply missed and never, ever forgotten.

I haven't checked in here for a few years now but it's with a heavy heart that I write this. Mike was one of the best people I've had the privilege of knowing. As Chris put it, if it weren't for him few of us would be friends - he was our glue and I will miss him dearly. As Gil mentioned, he was such a generous and fun soul, even in quiet times no moment could pass for dull. Dinner BBQs turned into food fights, a simple check-in call ended with riotous laughter - I can say that some of my favorite memories in life center around him. As hard as it is to think of his passing, I can't remember of a time he didn't have a ready smile. We're all better for knowing him.

To T, E and the rest of his family, I can only offer my most sincere condolences and a ready ear. I know that his friends will cherish the memories.

Wow. I'm in shock, I had not heard this. This is awful. Mike, was a great man and a good friend. I met Mike at the Virginia City Hill Climb when he had his 360 years and years ago. He was always kind and willing to talk to anyone whom shared his passions. 3 years ago he gave my girlfriend her first ride in a Ferrari. He never had an unkind word to say about anyone, he was genuinely nice, kind, intelligent man. I wish his family the best.

    RIP

Some people just make an indelible impression upon others, no matter how much time you've spent with them. Mike left a mark with me. The first time I met him was several years back when we ended up on Sonoma Raceway late in the day on Sunday, at the Challenge event. Most others had thrown the towel in and headed home. But Mike was determined to squeeze in every moment on the track he could before having to head home. I recall looking in my mirror as I approached Turn 7 on our outlap, surprised to see a Cali approaching fast - very fast. Mike was flying and I had yet to see anyone drive a California so hard and so well on the track. We cat-and-moused each other, lap after lap, for an extended session. He made an impression on me because he was aggressive but he was also safe, smart, and respectful when he made his moves. Once we got off track and actually met, those and other qualities were evident. He was full of enthusiasm, kind, positive, and rearing to go! The next time we met again was at the Andretti Winery event and he was as friendly, optimistic and enthusiastic as the last time we chatted. I can imagine the sense of loss and grief felt by those who knew him well and were fortunate to spend a lot of time with him. Rest in peace, Mike.

I first met Mike when he organized the first AutoExotica show up in Reno. I had my Elise, and this gentleman, a complete stranger to me, invited me to his home so that I wouldn't have any problems getting a spot at the show.

When we arrived, he invited my wife and I into his home, and as graciously as any good friend would have, offered us something to drink as he got ready to go. It was his willingness to open up to new people, to give of himself and his warm smile that instantly made us want to be a friend to him, that I'll always remember about Mike.

Since then, I've had the privilege to run into Mike at various car functions, as recently as last year at the Ferrari Challenge. While we were never very close, Mike and I were always able to talk easily and comfortably with one another, and I liked the man very much. I always admired his passion for cars and for living life to the fullest. Few people will make as good use of their time on this planet as Mike did.

Mike, the car world is a little poorer today for the loss of you, and the NorCal and Nevada folks who knew you, even as little as I have had the fortune to, will never forget the man you were, and whom we will miss dearly. My thoughts tonight go out to his family and close friends, whom this news must be hitting even harder than I.

Rest in peace, good sir, we'll miss you.

Michael Brooks Seeliger, 46, of Reno, passed away on April 13, 2014 while enjoying one of his many passions in life. He leaves behind his beloved wife and daughter, Traci and Ella Seeliger.

Mike was born in Reno, Nevada on January 20, 1968 to Tom and Kay (Park) Seeliger. He graduated from Bishop Manogue High School in 1986, and attended both the University of Nevada, where he was a member of the ATO fraternity, and Chico State University. He married the love of his life, Traci, in 2005 and welcomed their cherished daughter, Ella Brooks, in 2007.

Along with many successful business ventures, Mike was Senior Vice President at Morgan Stanley for seventeen years. He constantly strove to continue educating both himself and his clients. Mike always believed his clients came first. In addition, he served on the Board of Directors for Edgewood Companies for over ten years. He had a great love for Edgewood and was very proud to be part of the Edgewood family. Mikes family history was extremely important to him, as he was a sixth generation Nevadan.

Mike gave 110 percent in all that he did, but none more than to his family, who came first above all else. He was a devoted husband and father, with weekends finding him enjoying quality time with his wife, or taking his treasured Ella to shoot bow and arrows, race go carts and ride ATVs. He was an avid wine connoisseur and enjoyed many special days in Napa Valley with family and friends. Mike had numerous hobbies in his life, and pursued all that he loved with great passion. Summers found him riding motorcycles, camping, jet skiing, and boating on Lake Tahoe; in winter months, he could be found snow skiing and snowmobiling in Lake Tahoe and Graeagle. He had a love for exotic cars, and enjoyed taking trips with Traci and Ella to car events. Building and flying R/C model planes was another of Mike’s interests. He lived life to the fullest and made sure every single moment was accounted for. He had a generous and giving heart, willing to lend a hand to many in need. Mike was a friend to all and cherished his blessed life surrounded by his precious family and many friends.

Mike is survived by his wife and best friend Traci (Henson) Seeliger and daughter Ella Seeliger (7), of Reno; parents Tom and Kay Seeliger, of Reno; Brother Tom Seeliger, of Reno; Sister Sally Seeliger, of Reno; and Brother Dan (Silvina), of Santiago, Chile. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces Abbie Seeliger (18), Nathan Seeliger (16), Sarah Seeliger (9), Zen Seeliger (9), and Soren Seeliger (5); and in- laws Dave and Jenny Giusti and Lance (Tammy) Henson and nephews Aaron and Chaz Henson.

Grandparents Albert and Frances Seeliger and Brooks and Jeanne Park, as well as his Uncle John Seeliger preceded Mike in death.

A service will be held at Our Lady of the Snows Catholic Church, 1138 Wright Street, Reno, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 22, 2014. A celebration of life will immediately follow at The Grove, 95 Foothill Rd, Reno. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made to Our Lady of the Snows School, the Mike Seeliger Scholarship Fund, 1125 Lander Street, Reno, Nevada 89509.

Mike's funeral service was today. Saw a lot of folks I hadn't seen for a while and that was good. A terrible to see them again though. Godspeed Mike.
