If he made $497k and $67k, then how does he owe the IRS $1M in back taxes?

Poor journalism IMHO. This seems to happen a lot these days.
How come the editors don't catch these gaping holes in articles any more?

 

I don't believe the article is suggesting that his "pimp my ride" earnings are the only source of his tax obligations. It looks as if he is saying he is unable to pay his preexisting tax debt because his main stream of revenue has been cut off.

Poor xzibit. Lived life too large.

 

Alot of people with new money don't know the tax system and spend recklessly. Nothing new, nature of the game.

 

I don't think there are editors anymore...one more step between writing and publishing they can't "afford" to take in a digital, first-to-market industry.

I can't tell you how many spelling/grammar/factual errors I see in online news articles, even from NYT/LAT/WSJ, etc.

 

What kind of idiot leases a Range Rover for $2260 a month?

It doesnt say how many years that $1m in back taxes is for. He was making close to $500k per year on PMR. So he was wracking up tax debts of $150k - $200k per year. Plus he had other income from his music and acting career.

Not hard to see how, with penalties and interest, it could be $1m

 

What a shame.

Does anybody really? An entire industry has been built just to interpret the vast library of tax code, where no two people will come to the same conclusion due to it's ambiguity. The code is designed to destroy Americans.

The whole premise of the show was to take a crappy car and turn it into an even crappier car while putting several thousand dollars of work into it...so its no surprise that he lived his life in a similar manner.

You must be using the term "journalism" very loosely. I'd call it more of a blog, in which case poor grammar, spelling, fact checking etc are all fair game.

 

Pimp My Ride made me broke also. After the $10,000 worth of speakers, monitors, Play Stations and other crap he installed in my car started breaking, I had to get another pizza delivery job just to pay for the repairs.

 

Its sad to see this, as I like Xzibit. I don't say that very often about people on TV.

 

That pretty much echoes my own thoughts.

Why do you think I'm doing pizza delivering right now? That pimped out SmartCar ain't gonna pay for itself!
