I personally think it's rather underhanded of Ferrari to charge so much to download content from their website, such as screen savers, desktop images and such.

Would anyone be able to provide membership details (user name and password) to access the content?
Or otherwise, maybe F-chatters can recommend alternative sources, or websites that re-post the content for free?

For the great uninformed (me). What the hell is Y&F membership?

And why would Ferrari charge to download stuff to owners of thier cars?

the owners.ferrari.com site allows us to download any owner's manual from any car they have, N/C.

Clue me in to the Y&F thing.

No, Jo. Why should we? If you are a Ferrari owner, just go to the Ferrari owner's site, sign up, provide the VIN number of the car you own, and you can get on for free, and download whatever you want. If you don't own a Ferrari, you have no business being on the Ferrari owners site.

And while you are at it, stop free-loading here and pay for a membership. But then again, you probably don't own a Ferrari, so why should you? So just keep free-loading, but don't expect any "freebies" from the rest of us. As they say, sucka, "Ya gotta pay to play." One way or the other.

    AHHH.

    I just figgured it out.

    You and Ferrari at www.ferrari.com

I guess they think they are special, very special indeed.

I do not have a membership there, and don't really care to pay ofr stuff that should be free.

And YO, FIB. Did you really need to jump all over NoJo for his question? Although his asking for a free pass was a little over the top.

Yeah, you're right. I'll turn the flame thrower down a little. But it burns my butt that he thinks he's ENTITLED to get someone else's user name and password to get free access to a pay site, and effectively yells at us for not giving it to him. So yeah, I do think he deserved to be jumped on. But maybe not stomped to death.

Re-reading my post, I don't think I was that unfair. And I still think that he and others who want to hang out here and be part of the community should pony-up for a membership and support the site. Too bad he and so many others think they are entitled to somethin' for nothin'.

I've seen this too and didn't like it. This is how I understand what Ferrari has done.

    Ferrari.com : open info - minimal stuff

owners.ferrari.com : open to Ferrari owners

Y&F : Paid site with stuff (I have no idea what)

So owners are supposed to pay to get whatever info is in Y&F? Seems like a slap in the face. I'm not saying there is anything there I'd be interested in, but you would think they would open it to their actuall customers.

And no, I do not have a password..........

The way I understand it Y&F is for mostly non-owners who want to be a part of the action. It looks to be 25 euros to join. Probably no different then the other overpriced stuff F offers. What the heck it's cheaper then buying a car ;)

Gotta agree, quit your b*tching...fill out your profile, contribute and get known around here, and people will bend over backwards to help you out. For now, suck it up, and quit whining like a little kid. Or maybe you are?

Good points well made Steve! :D

I see that Ecnal too is a non-owner non-subscriber. Nothing wrong with the first, but don't stick your neck out when you're the second!

For what it's worth, I'm only silver, I don't go on the Silver forum, I'm not sure exactly what extra I get for being Silver, but that may be cos I'm missing something.

Either way it doesn't bother me, I pay for Silver purely as a way of supporting Rob and the guys that give us this site.

And NoJo, just look elsewhere for download pics and the like, there must be plenty of stuff on here and other websites like this.

Wow, do I feel sorry for you.

I don't own a Ferrari, but I think I got the better lot in life. You have to go through life being a cynical, bitter old bastard. Maybe one day i will own a Ferrari, maybe I won't. Frankly, there are, believe it or not, more important things in life. But you will always be the same bitter, decrepid soul. And I feel sorry for you.

For the record, this is a Ferrari enthusiast forum, not an owner's site.
I don't think I deserve something for nothing, and never have. If I thought I deserved it, I wouldn't be asking (which is what I did), I'd be demanding it. Which is probably what you would do if the tables were turned. All I did was ask for a little help. You don't want to help someone else, good for you. Just keep your freakin' mouth shut.

Anyway, you go sit in your car. I take it it's probably the only thing you love. See what it says back to you.

maybe you should call in at your local library and ask to borrow (free of charge,of course) a copy of How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

I think you may find it enlightening!

The one book everyone should read at least once in their life, it's a belter!

NoJo - if you filled in at least SOME details on your profile people might be a bit less cynical. I know it shouldn't make a difference, but it does. Just a thought.

Totally out of line IMO in asking for someone else's access information - this person must not be aware of the fact that many sites are IP address restricted. Why would anyone want to sacrifice their access by giving their info to a stranger - especially with all the hype about identity theft concerns?

Just wanted to take a minute to clarify a couple of points.
FIB and I are sorting out our differences in private.

As for my personal details in my profile, I have tried filling them in several times, but they never seem to stay. Don't know why, but I'll give it another shot. In the meantime, my name is Noah, I lived in Montreal until moving recently to Jerusalem. I'm 24, I collect 1:18-scale diecast Ferraris (and other Ferrari-related memorobilia), but don't own an actual Ferrari automobile. (If I'm not mistaken, they don't even sell them here.) When I'm on the forum, I usually post in the collectibles section.

Finally, as for my original request, I didn't realize people would be so deeply offended by my question. For all I knew, the membership details could have been freely exchanged. I had aparently assumed incorrectly. For anyone I may have inadvertently pissed off, my apologies.

When i posted the follow-up message, I was tyring to keep the posting current because I thought it might have been over-looked. I thought maybe someone would suggest another site where I could find similar content.

Well, one way or another, I hope that clears the record.

    Noah,

Welcome to the FerrariChat community. Glad we cleared the air. I have several diecast Ferrari 1:18's as well, and believe me, they require far less maintenance than my Mondial.

    Regards,
    Steve
