I don't own the server, but my monthly hosting costs are several times your amount. They use to be closer to $1,500 a month for two servers, but the host just couldn't keep up with my size and most of us know about the "crash" and lack of valid backup I had been paying for.

We're with a really good host now just running off 1 big server, I can easily upgrade to multiple servers. They have clients running hundreds, so 2-3 will be easy for them. Issue is running out of space now. We're at 91% of 180 Gb.

If the maximum allowable image size to upload is (lets say) 300x300, would this save on server costs? If the Bikini Thread did not exist, would that be a cost savings? (Lamore would probably go balistic!)

memory is cheap, 640 by 640 is too small for some. I've thought about allowing subscribed users to post 800 by 800.

Is that 164 Gb of data stored on the server or 164 Gb of data transfered a month? Either way, that is A LOT of data... m

My challenge stands as stated. Besides DFW offering easy access to the track (its a country club, no need to wait for an event), easy access to Ferrarichat members (I bet at least 30 people would show to watch), but MSR is a challenging track that will require talent. Changes in elevation, on camber turns, off camber turns, and 11 total turns in 1.7 miles. Driving ability wins, not horsepower.

If your experience is on a flat, 3rd gear track maybe you shouldn't show up. But if you really think you can drive, I'm ready to fly you out.

Just noticed that bandwidth amount. That's pretty insane haha. A local host here offers 460gb a month but its shared hosting so it loads very slow.

Like I posted below, our bandwidth is 730 Gb, but I have 2,000 Gb capacity without paying more. We'll need it all sooner than later. Old host had 500 Gb limit and I think they charged me about $10 a month for every Gb over. :(

Well i think the site is superb and well worth the subscription. Its a shame a lot more people do not subscribe.
I'll happily pay double to keep the site running.

Do you have separate machines for the web server and the SQL server or are you running multiple machines with a load balancer?

The price you quoted per month for server hosting sounds pretty decent for the mass amount of traffic you're handling. 100Mbit uplink or bigger?

My uplink and downlink is pretty much unlimted. They are on OC32's or larger! One server right now, old host had two smaller machines, one web, one db.

Once we outgrow this one, first thing I'll do is add a similar second server for the db.
