http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=6212&item=4531724982&rd=1 Anybody familiar with this car? Any stories involved with it? Its been listed 3 times now, curious if anybody has spoken in detail with the owner about the vehicle? TIA.
Hmm I'm not a big expert on the 512 market but the few I've seen have been advertised for over 100k, couple of white ones in the 80's. Whats a good price then if the car is legit and checks out? 75k? I'm going through the old F355 or TR purchase decision.
A) Price B) Lack of Positive Feedback. C) At least 10 Spelling Errors (Beware, possible Scam !!!) D) Price
i think this guy really has the car and wants to sell it. he cant spell to save his life, but the car looks good. all you have to do is run the vin, get a ppi and drive it away. i think the buy it now price is probably not far off market, i certainly wouldnt sell mine for any less than that.
This car has been for sale since late last year. I called the owner and discussed the car and price with him last November. At that time he said he would "ABSOLUTELY" never take less than $102,000. The asking price was even higher. How times change ! He stressed that the car had just been serviced and told me I could have a ppi done if I "really" thought it necessary. I ran the vin # and called the dealership where the car had been serviced. The service manager said the car had been serviced regularly and could not remember any real problems but he stressed that a ppi was a very good idea before purchase. I called the owner back and he more or less told me to "get lost" if I could not afford the asking price. I actually offered him $92,000.00 at that time but he was not the least bit interested. Since then I found another car that I am quite happy with and the purchase was a pleasant experience. I am not sure it would have been so with this guy. Just my 2 cents worth.
I drove this car in January. The owner is way to big for it. He has new mats, the engine needs detailed, service was over 5 yrs. ago. He was price flexible, but I found a testarossa and bought it instead.
i was very interested in it......but the seller "refused" to send add. picture of the interior...."strange" to say the least.
THE FRONT 3/4 view PIC IS A FAKE! there seems to be a "cover up" on the bumper. the shades arent correct. so this guy is a bit sketchy...stay away.....well, i would.
that was my impression.....and generally i am quite trusting. others who have seen and test drove the car in person perhaps can provide better input...but i couldn't get him to give up much info......
It looks dead up like a Yellow 512 with black interior and chrome wheels that was for sale here at Buxton Motorsports in Southren Indiana. I think he sold that one to somebody in Nevada or California if I remember correctly.
I would cut him some slack. So he can't spell. Or does not care to check his spelling. He should put it on consignment somewhere if he doesn't want to mess with it and he is annoyed. I can see how it could happen. Who want's to screw with it?
good memory, impala. that car is in fact the one that buxton had (for a long time). i have VIN snaps from buxton. i considered it early last summer. i have dozens of photos of this car i can share if someone's a prospective buyer. i also have the service records for the car, and the mileage appears to be a rationally accurate number. i balked because of the price and the fact that the service records were so thin. it'd be nice if 13 year old ferraris were so solid they never had to go to the shop, but we all know that isn't how the world works! it had a big sony stereo setup in it at buxton. not sure if this guy ripped it out and replaced it or what. the spelling errors are unacceptable. it'd be one thing if it were one error on the entire page, but there are errors in every sentence. if it's not a scam he's gonna have a hard time moving it, that's for sure. if you're seriously considering this car, email me and i'll dump what i've got on you. doody.
I've got an idea on this car. Why doesn't some one who is in California actually go and LOOK at the car! Then, who cares about the guys' spelling? Price looks kind of low to me................
got in touch w/ the seller last night.....a couple of findings: 1- last major service was in early 99....almost 6 yrs ago. so you need to price in another 7k to 9k.... 2- not a lot of record.....red flag (as doody eluded....). 3- owner is simply ******. still refuse to provide additional pics of the interior and engine bay.... makes u ?. btw, he drop the BIN price to 89k...but frankly for that price + cost of major, a person can buy himself a nice/clean 97 or 98 550M......granted, it doesn't have the wow factor but a much more refined machine..... tom "former 512tr owner".
not sure why this bonehead won't share pics of his car, but here are interior snaps from the dealer who had it before him. doody. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

i dug up the fax re: the service records. basically there aren't any service records . the car was delivered by The Collection to its first owner in November 9 1993. Motorcars International in MO did the major and whatnot in late summer 1999. other than that, no service records. the (totally clean) carfax from last summer suggests the mileage is proably rather accurate - lots of data points over eight years. so figure a major plus whatever might be awry plus fixing up those not-well-taken-care-of seats. won't be free. i agree that for a bit more money you might as well pick up a 550 instead. doody.
