i saw a yellow one just the other day in NJ, first yellow one i'd ever seen. Really made me start to question red which is what i've always wanted on a 599.

 

Is in manual? I think the only other pictures i have seen of a us yellow car were of a manual.

 

Terrible choice for this car! Sometimes theres a good reason why certain things are rare.

 

It is subjective of course, but my sense is that yellow looks best on the smaller Ferraris such as the 360, F430, and 458. Darker colors such as the grays and blues on the V12s make for a formal appearance which the cars lend themselves to. Yellow and white make for a more sporty appearance that goes a bit against their GT character. Red kind of splits the difference and has the advantage of tradition.

 

I agree with you somewhat. I do feel yellow has a tradition of sorts because of it's association with Modena.

 

Yes... and also Belgium racing color. Belgium was important in early Ferrari successes. And of course the yellow shield, whose color might come from the flag of Modena http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/it-moden.html. It is interesting that the flag of Modena also has a color that looks close to Blue Chiaro.

The prancing horse itself is taken from WWI Italian ace Francesco Baracca's squadron logo (see the logo on the airplane in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francesco_Baracca)

Btw, the 360 and 430 are taller and bigger than the Testarossa, and the tr in yellow looks like a big banana.

My personal view...but I get what you are saying, and I agree, the yellow does look better on the smaller sized cars.

I think it looks amazing. You guys know this is subjective right? The idea that certain car types and sizes only look right in certain colors is foreign to me.

It's gorgeous. Much better than dark grey or black. But it needs yellow calipers and maybe the HGTE wheels.

 

THe sides of the rear diffusor painted in body color is a so great idea... The car should have come like that from the factory. It gives a nice 360/430 look the the rear
