    Hi All,

    Noticed a mistake in my previous post, here 's the correct info;
    - 1981 BB 512 carb
    - 3310 original miles (mistake 33100)
    - everything looks new, seats, dash, undercar, engine,...
    - Asking price $124'000.00
    - Location Europe

Question: What do you guys think about the price for such a low mile BB ???

    Thanks a lot
    Cheers
    Charles

It' s really been used every year, but the old gentleman drove it a couple of miles each time and left it in his garage... The mechanic that worked on it, always took great care of it every year, so that the carbs would not be clogged and that all the other parts would work. It last runned about a month ago, clutch was repalced at 2500 miles, just replaced fuel pumps and a couple of relays... Talked to the mechanic and he said it drove amazing... This really is a rare jewel in my opinion...

    Cheers

Wow. Sounds like a good car which looks to be in good condition. If it is as stated, you have made a good choice and will love driving it. Keep us posted and send pics!

Cheap IMO. Even if it might need some work, the opportunity to buy a car like a Carb BB with low mileage doesnt come up that often.

Clutch replaced at 2500 miles? I'm guessing the car has more miles.

    They are high geared gals.
Unless the engine, read carbs, are well tuned the car can be hard to get going up hill from a stop. Driver experience and familiarity with the car helps, but stops on semi steep hills are better avoided.

The car you’re looking at sounds nice and well cared for. However I think a full PPI would still be in order. Besides the needed engine out service, I’d also suggest changing out the rubber cooling water hoses as well as the fuel hoses.
Good luck with your tentative purchase, and let’s see some pictures!

Not that bad, unless it's been abused. I just replaced my clutch at 33000kms, and I thought that was rather quick.

Isn't sitting excessively bad for the clutch also?

I agree about the hill starts. My carb BB is well tuned and I have no trouble pulling off from stoplights. I just give just a little throttle while easing out the clutch until the car starts to move. There is then a short, subtle dead spot where the clutch and transmission are hooked up. Then you can slowly apply the throttle without any clutch burning or slipping. I use that technique on my motorcycles and it has worked well with every stick shift car I've owned. Never burned out a clutch. I try to avoid the hill starts though usually by timing the light or just avoiding it all together.

That's about the right price in the market...

That's the last of the carbed versions, as you may be aware..........

Sitting isn't necessarily bad for the clutch but they can rust to the flywheel, and stick.......could be the reason for an early renewal......

I think Jeff's (JP Sarti) car had a stuck clutch because it sat for quite some time. I think he said a couple of the shocks were stuck as well.

Yes that was correct, clutch was stuck to flywheel, had to remove clutch to fix, carbs has old fuel deposits and needed complete cleaning and one bad shock in the rear knocking over speed bumps
