Need to pull codes to see why it went on ..do not reset (pulling battery etc) until you see what the issue was Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
It could be as a misfire due to old gas ..maybe if car sat for 5 months .. the gas maybe as old as 1 year ..but that would be a good long shot .. do you know anyone with a decent obd tool ..it should tell you right away .. Sent from my moto g(7) using Tapatalk
If you want ..just a thought .. look into a ap200 for around 70 dollars .. I haven't looked at coverage but I know it does a good job on other ferraris.. not sure on 575 .. It is a small but good investment if it has a 575 coverage .. check with them (autel) to see if covered You will probably use it more than you think as problems arise Without knowing the cause my concern would be if a significant issue driving might make it worse It could be a loose gas cap.. a stuck evap value ..minor.... to a misfire which is more serious and can cause other more serious damage There are cheaper scan tool 20 dollars on Amazon that you also use with a good program on your phone like eodb facile .that may also read the issue .. but doesn't go deep as the ap200 .. Both my 08 OTO and 04 575 M had the same issue. They both needed new oxygen sensors. Not a huge deal.
As Flash32 says, a cheap code reader is a good investment. $70 is not even an hour at a dealer. The check engine symbol could mean anything. It could be a huge deal, it might not (i.e. well within your abilities to do it yourself). When I first bought an exotic car, my maintenance bill went from $10,000 a year to hundreds of dollars when I learned to fix many things myself (with the help of YouTube and forums).
Thats catalytic . If you have a local guy they could check it, maybe reset it for you, then drive a few days and 100 miles or so , it might clear up. Did battery die? If so, computer may have lost history, then you definitely have to drive to gather history.
Image Unavailable, Please Login It may be, it may not. Catalytic temperature problems, for example, are usually indicated by the SLOW DOWN warning light. Check Engine lights can be generated by hundreds of different failures.
You need to take her to someone who can diagnose the problem for you. Even the F1 system can produce a check engine light that will not reset without a diagnostic tool. With luck, nothing big, but an SD-2 diagnostic tool or equivalent should be able to tell in a hurry what the problem is. Al- Why would you think a catalyst problem when the CEL can be caused by a myriad of other problems?
I believe all the later model Ferrari/Bosch engine ECUs (5.2 or later) have non-volatile memories which can't be erased by disconnecting the battery.. They have to be reset with an OBD2 or SD reader. In any case, unless the fault is very intermittent, the light should reappear on the next drive or two. The history of the fault and associated faults is important to technicians.
Recurring problem in my '09 612 , was eventually cleared . First time was last year when dealer had it for a while , battery died , changed battery . I received car back and took it to my independent for inspection , before he commenced (to avoid a failure) he saw the cats weren't registering so he gave me temp inspection , drove it a few days , about 100 miles and no problem. Second time light came on , he flipped the rubber seal on the gas cap , cleared the code and it hasn't come back yet. I only posted based on my experience.
