Just a quick question. Is there anything in the wide, wide world of sports that is as stupid as having a baseball manager come charging out of the dugout, get into the face of an umpire, and get himself thrown out of the game? This is obviously just some kind of time-honored ritual, it's become an accepted part of the game, but WHY? It's SOOOOOOO dumb!

There is no positive benefit from these arguments then again, what does a baseball manager do during the game anyway other than take a nap and call the bullpen every 45 minutes.

most of the times you see a manager come out, they're looking for clarification and to stick up for their guys. for instance, in today's cards game, there were 2 questionable calls, one where it at first glance appeared as though a ball hit by colorado had cleared the yellow lining on the wall and bounced back in play, but was ruled a non-homerun, which proved to be the right call, and another one where it appeared the rockies catcher trapped the ball against the back screen instead of catching it cleanly, but after looking at slow-mo instant replay, it was another right call. one of the big parts of baseball is human error, which is what makes it great, and no matter what, on a close play, someone's gonna think they came up with the short stick.
