Very impressive. Thank you for sharing.
Amazing the transformation of the Dino GT4 with European bumpers. What a difference.

Yes, thanks for including shots of the GT4. So often ignored but a great achievement for a four seater. I think it looks nice anyway. I live in Europe so don't have to live with the ugly US bumpers.

You have it backwards, inside out and back to front;)
NOT a transformation: the original version without the USA bureaucracy mandated disfigurement.

Obviously. The word "transformation" was a figure of speech. My first Ferrari, way back in 1987, was a Euro GT4.

One of my current projects include the third car (or similar) shown from the top on the left of the magazine page.
I've probably driven, owned, restored or worked on more than a dozen of them over the decades, including a few of the less than 250 convertibles originally produced and even one of the two (Hardtop) Pont-a-Mousson 4-speed examples.

I used read the magazine occasionally when growing up, although preferred Asterix or Tintin much more.

So true! No car was disfigured more by US "cowcatcher" bumpers than the GT4...

No the very worst disfiguration was the Maserati Khamsin US version, appallingly ugly.
Thankfully 80 + of the 155 US versions have been converted to the gorgeous, pure, Euro spec.
I don't like working on cars but converted three including mine and it was sooo satisfying, like removing those huge seventies tooth braces from pretty girls.

    Yes.

Even worked on fixing various mechanical problems of V. Granatelli’s convertible he had bought at one of the Scottsdale auctions long ago.
While it appeared to have concours level, complete restoration, featured a lot of fine detail and “looked like a million bucks”, mechanically it was a borderline hack job (like so many so called “complete restorations” often are).

And you may know his dad worked on attempting and setting several of land speed records with an “F” and a “G” back when these cars were new.

Last I heard one record set with an “F” back then is still standing today, although I can’t recall if it was a result from Andy’s efforts.

Oh my, you are totally right. I had completely forgotten about that. The protruding black plastic rear bumper and afterthought rear lights, where the bumper was supposed to be, truly was the worst ever!

Yes thank God most have been undisfigured by way of a kit; in Europe I know of only one ex US market car that is in use and has not been converted, it is Poland, in the UK and France there is one each but they are not being used. When sold they will be converted. Now when a US car gets restored it goes without saying that it gets converted to Euro bumpers. After 18 years of compiling data for my Khamsin Registry of all US version Khamsins (155 total) I only know of 27 cars, mostly still in the USA, that still have the horrible US configuration and with 80 + having been converted, some cars having vanished a vast majority has been been converted. Here photos comparing the two, both US cars one converted one not, Copyright Art Harvey.

    Marcello Gandini versus Ralf Nader...

As the late number 1 US dealer Bob Grossman said the US version totally ruined sales so now when converted they get their moment in the sun at last:)
