Yet Another Newbie 430 Gas Cap Question

    I've searched and read cap discussions on this site, but haven't found this specific issue addressed: Titanium cover spins without seeming to rotate the cap body, yet the cap body does engage and disengage in the filler neck. Maybe 90 degree rotation to unscrew at which point the cap just lifts off of the filler neck...installation is the reverse. Can't really tell if the cap body tightens in the filler neck because the cover spins. Is the cover spinning relative to the body of the cap the normal function This car was thoroughly inspected by Ferrari and Maserati of Newport Beach only a few weeks ago, and they raised no issue regarding the operation of the cap.

    I tighten mine until snug. Then turn it past that until it clicks a few times.

    Ahhhh, I see. The cap should have more resistance between the metal top and the body beneath, like so may other caps I've dealt with. Mine doesn't....it just spins without clicking or adding resistance.

    Tnx for your response! I have the clue I needed to investigate. Don't like new cap pricing but don't know enough to develop a solution yet.
