Skip anything that says "4RE". It's lame and nobody else is gonna get it.

yeah i'm tired of seeing lame plates, they're so common now that i have more respect for the owner of a nice car who has standard govt issue. here's another thread of RSM-4RE-PL8Z.

it's not to say there's nothing worth putting on there, but these phonetic-based L33T H4X0R style plates are really just... lame, can't think of a better word. ever since that movie in the 80's with the car that had "CU-L8R" on it, it's been a bit sad really. (and yes, i've seen a car locally with that plate on it, and it made me cringe)

personally, i'm a fan of a single, well-suited or at least funny word on a plate. my favourite is still labcars porsche carrera GT with SCHEISSE on the number plate.

what really amuses me at the moment though, is that just around my few local burbs i've seen maybe 30-40 individual mazda RX8's over the last couple months. as yet, i HAVE NOT seen one with standard plates... every single one of them has something in the plate which tells you what sort of car it is. MR-RX8, RX8RTY, THE-8, SIK-RX... etc. now it's just plain funny.

well, just my warped thoughts, but obviously a lot of people like them as a lot of people have them.

I'm not that big a fan of vanity plates either but our states standard is just plain UGLY..........

I know someone out there has the right one, not cheesy, just plain and simple to make people smile when they read it.

Personally, I'm not a big fan of plates that tell others what kind of car it is; after all, most manufacturers make it a point to do that for you. However, I think I will get this for my 308...

It's tricky, John. You want something unique, but not cheesy. My cars have vanity plates because they are blue with mountains, instead of the standard Alaska black on orange. But neither has anything to do with the car.

Spend a few days thinking non-Ferrari (for the plates that is). Hobbies, career, college, wife, fav team, hometown, etc.

I figure alot of the "4RE" combinations might be taken, so how about a more cryptic one... "ZFF" as in, the first 3 of the VIN.

Please, nobody in TX use "4ZA ZFF" I'm gonna try and register that one this year. :D

Well, I noticed WOHRSY is a choice, but not WHORSY. Yeah, bad idea.

I was out to dinner the other night and saw a guy with the license plate 0. Either that, or it was an "O", but either way, that's pretty unique. I don't know about other states, but in Illinois single-digit plates are a big deal among the politically connected crowd.

If you put too many OOOs in there it'll look like you mean ooh instead of OOOh! A soft "o" instead of a hard "O"! (No guttermouths, please!)
