IMHO there is only one label worse than a hater and that's a sycophant. Sadly we have some of those on here too.
You took the words out of my mouth... And seeing him live in Canada in 2008 take out Kimi in the pit exit cemented my sentiments about Hamilton.
+1. Unfortunately the jokes on you for falling for the humourous idea that this thread was ever supposed to be an appreciation thread. It clearly isn't, and never was intended as such.
Well, if you elton fans don't use it to post your favourite drives etc, what do you expect.... we are at least discussing Elton, not our fault he lets himself down so badly outside the cockpit
^^^ the title of this thread is the Lewis appreciation thread. Not the 'general banter about Lewis by ham haters thread'.
Like Daytona says, no one except for a handful made use of it. I'm a noted Hamilton detractor (or hater as many of you prefer) and posted something positive, something I truly believed was an outstanding performance and people agreed. The rest kept quiet. Either the Hamilton fans didn't have anything to post or where waiting for the thread to derail after Hamilton would do something stupid (didn't take that long did it?) and then complain about it.
I guess the general feeling around here is just that Lewis's current depreciation is very much appreciated.
To be fair to you, you're not a hater. Generally your comments are well considered and multi dimensional often commenting on various drivers pros and cons. That's all good. I am not a Hamilton fan boy, and a quick look through my post history will show that too. I think the reason many Ham fans don't post here is because they know that any positive support gets quickly over whelmed by the anti Ham terrorist fraternity. What's the point?
That's clever : ) I do think Hamilton has to be in a weird place. I mean the press stuff is no big deal but coupled with the the wdc slipping away it definitely gives people stuff to talk about. We'll see if Nico can seal the deal. I believe he will and prove me wrong that he is a choke artist. I think he learned a lesson last year. We shall see.
This Not a Hamfan either (my heroes are Seb and Max) but the amount of ridicule Ham gets here is just stupid and unjustified
And this. Yup, Nico is doing the best driving ever of his career. He has learned a lot just in this year alone, particularly about race craft.
Maybe you need to pick up the Motorsport press this weekend, I think a fair number of them are as unimpressed by him as the likes of anyone on fchat. In fact, many allude to the fact he is one of the most unpopular personalities ever to be champion
Well, n also the fact that this is a Ferrari place n he no drive a Red. I dont know the guy, but he sure appears to like to pile on the negative press. Dam Lewis, you're a multi wdc, rich beyond any normal person, n u drive the fastest car out there..... dude!!
Swiss Blick's Benoit thanked Lewis for trying at least to pass Max. Hamilton has charisma in a grid of mostly corporate droids
True, among traditional F1 fans - the same who hated Eddie Irvine in his time. Outside of the traditional F1 fans, Hamilton is the only name that people know for F1. There's a reason Bernie encourages Hamilton, says he is a better champion than Kimi, Vettel, etc - because Hamilton actually tries to engage with fans beyond the traditional fan base. Again, outside the traditionalists - Hamilton is actually very popular with ordinary fans. He spends as much time or more than the other drivers in autograph sessions, selfie sessions, etc, and has far more social media presence and support. So while you claim he's one of the most unpopular personalities ever to be champion - the opposite is actually true beyond your blinkered hatred. To be clear, before you accuse me unfoundedly of being a Hamilton apologist and fan - I do greatly admire his driving abilities (someone asked how to define a Hamilton Hater - that would be someone who pretends that Hamilton is really just an average driver who lucked into a great car), I'm not a fan of his public personality and antics like the Snapchatting press conference. I'm too old to be a fan of that sort of carry-on.
So none of us are haters then, we have all acknowledged he is above average (but nowhere near the best), so why do you and your friends continue to attack anyone who doesnt share your view of him. He is a totally unlikeable fellow. You can't compare him to Eddie Irvine, Eddie was simply a cheeky chap lucked into ferrari and living the playboy lifestyle. He wasn't a bad driver, but certainly not a great. Elton appears to be tolerated less and less by the press, and they are the ones who can and will find a way to chop you down from your pedestal over time. Maybe they might reinvestigate some of the rumours about Elton that have been suppressed over the years for 'the good of f1'. If they do, are you sure he would come out of it looking good?
Calling the "charisma" is very far fetched...I would say Ricciardo has charisma, Hamilton just behaves like a spoilt kid lately with all this "everybody is against me..." Maybe his Problem is that no really bad years formed his character and he takes all for granted. Seb has lost a lot of his lightheartedness as well. He was much more approachable in the beginning of his career. Gesendet von meinem SM-G800F mit Tapatalk
