Dear friends A local Yonkers, NY charity has asked me to propose a plan to start an annual Yonkers Concours de Italia featuring all Italian cars. I've never organized a festival like this - so I'm calling for suggestions and help before I make my presentation on Tuesday. I don't know if the org is going to get behind it, it's just a preliminary presentation. However, if I get go ahead, are there any of you out there that would like to help? Help includes just bringing your F-car (or other Italian SC) for the event, to helping organize, judge, park, etc. The charity will do all the other stuff, like find the right place, security, police, ticket sales etc. I won't do this without complete cooperation from the city, so that might include use of roads for "pay for rides", demos, maybe even a parade. Your ideas and suggestions are really appreciated. Of prime importance is finding a date that does not coincide with another SC event in the summer. Anyone have a suggestion? Your input is most appreciated. Quasimotor
I run an event as well in Westchester called the Scarsdale Concours where we feature many italians cars. Probably around 45 of them. If you want to call me PM me for my number. If you want to find out more about the event go to www.scarsdaleconcours.com
That sounds like a great idea. The notion of rides in the cars can be a good money maker. However, don't make the rides too expensive. At the Scrasdale show they do a silent auction for the rides. Suggestion - if you do that, start the bidding low. It's better to make something than nothing. You may also want to contact the Empire State Region of the FCA to see about advertising through the FCA newsletter. The annual ESR-FCA show is always in July at West Point. Other "competition" would be the Greenwich concours in June. What is the charity? As long as the date is not a conflict, I'd be glad to bring my car to help out.
Don't forget the FCA Concorso in Hartford on July 18, and the Festa di Ferrari in Stamford, September 24. vty, --Dennis
