All excellent rules. Here's a question to everyone with kids: How many of you have regular sit-down family dinners every night versus TV trays in front of the tube? It seems like it's a tradition that's losing out to the nation's move towards casual-everything. I didn't notice any comments about how to dress. People seem averse to dressing "properly" these days. It surprises me when I see someone at church wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Yeah, it's good that they're there. But it also seems a bit disrespectful. I've said it before--Slacker Nation.

Is their any other nation that dresses formal? I like to wear nice clothes, and I hate girls in casual look (sweats and t-shirts).

Well, I don't mean formal necessarily but appropriate. How many girls have you seen walking around in tight jeans and belly shirts who SHOULDN'T be walking around in tight jeans and belly shirts?! There's a line between self-confidence, proud of your body etc and just being a blob. And that line isn't too hard to decifer. But as far as the rest of the world, it seems like when you travel abroad people seem to take a little more care in their appearance. Here we see an abundance of warm-ups and ballcaps and so on that are great for being comfortable but don't really flatter the person wearing them too much. I don't know, maybe it's being petty, but it's just my observation.

Yeah. I see alot of the "gross" clothes on just the wrong people. I still don't think the tight shorts, the cleavage thats too much, and the bellies showing, is really appealing to me. Aren't European and Asian women more caring and femininie in their apperance, and attitudes.

I'll put on shorts (khakis usually) and a t-shirt if I am around the house, but I am going some place respectable, I usually dress up alittle more. What about these "dress down" days at work? Do you like them?

Absolutley. For example, I was buying a lab puppy from a breeder locally this summer. When I went to pick him up there was a young couple there with two boys proboably 4 and 5, who were also picking up a puppy. For about half an hour I watched the two kids torment the other dogs, pulling their tails, running in to them, and at one point dopping one from 2-3 feet. Im only 19 but I was still disgusted by the way that the parents only laughed of their kids idiocy, "oh hes always like that". I never did say anything because I didn't want to create a problem for the lady who was selling the dogs, but it was one of the most infuriating things I've ever seen.

Speaking of appropriate dress, I was on the road this week and had a return flight with a coworker. At the office or business functions, this coworker always looks nice. After we went through security, she ducked out to stop in the restroom. Imagine my surprise when she came to board with me wearing her sweats! I'm not talking about cute, girlie sweats, but 10 years old-worked out in weekly kind of sweats. I was floored. I guess it showed on my face because she said 'I like to be comfortable when I travel'. The clothes were so bad I was a little embarrassed to be seen with her. I still tell my kids "we're flying today, you need to look nice". It's sad that airplanes have become the busses of the new millenium.

I wear my pajamas on the airplane? ... I don't see how this affects anyone else around me ... unless you consider it an eye sore? ...

Also the knife should be held in your hand the same way you hold a pen or pencil. But of course at the "handle" not along the blade.

Well, not to take this thread too off-tangent (although, DANG some of you sound like you were toilet-trained at gunpoint!), but I feel it's the airlines that have made air travel so unappealing. Let's face it, when was the last time anyone looked forward to flying on a passenger jet? They are noisy, cramped, and every ammenity has been stripped out over the past few years. I was flying first class to Seattle on AA recently and was very underwhelmed by the cold half-roast beef sandwich that I received. Coach had to pay extra for their lousy sandwiches.

Add to that a 'security' system that discourages wearing belts and lace-up shoes and show no respect to anyone, it's no suprise that people fail to consider air travel something worth dressing up to do.

Can someone refresh my memory. How are you suppose to hold wine vs champaigne? Champaigne with hand under glass, wine losely around glass? Ive become confused.
