I´m just a little interested in a thing, and this may seem like a stupid post, then don´t answer, thanks :)

I mean, on a F1-geard Ferrari, there isn´t any clutch. What i want to ask is: does the gearbox change gear directly when you hit one of the handpaddles, or does the gear-change take place after you´ve let the paddle go?

If it is as in the first case, as i assume, then you can never hit the gas-pedal when you´re cruising(to let the engine "speak" so to say). Right? I understand that it is like this, but just wanted it to be clarified. Thanks.

there is a clutch, just no pedal. The clutch action is all controlled by computers. So when you tap the upshift paddle, it engages the clutch changes gear and lets the clutch out just like on a standard transmission, but it does it in .3 seconds. Its really a great engineering feat and it is almost perfected.

edit: i misread your question. From what i know about the F1 tranny, when you pull it up thats when the computer knows to change gears. You can hear a little click when you push it and that lets you know that the ECU knows what u want the gearbox to do. If you pull both at the same time, the car goes to neutral (correct me if im wrong).

Aha! Could be. That seems resonable. And when you let them go again, you comes back to the same gear that you was in before you pulled the both paddles?

no it stays in neutral until u upshift. then if you are going say 65, put it in neutral then hit upshift, i bet that the ECU chooses the best gear then puts the car into that gear. I think, ive never driven one
