The question is: We have so many Fcar owners in DFW. So why do we not have the most dominant club? I would dare someone to tell me we do not have enough events.

    Let's open the flood gates!!!

Who is it you are trying to dominate?

As for me, I'm very thankful for your leadership, the participation of the members, and the fun and comraderie I experience every time I attend an event or activity. It's a great group of folks regardless of size.

I bet % wise our participation is comparable to most other metro areas with chapters.

When Rodney and Marci ran their Italian Car club they told me when still able to get DMV lists (pre-2000?) of all local owners with a certain make, it was well up there in hundreds and close to thousand I think for Ferraris in DFW.

A large majority of Ferrari owners aren't going to be very active. Ferrari is just another car in their big collection along with yachts, private jets, and multiple vacation homes. I found the most active and enthusiastic members to have less distractions. Now I understand the full "kid" distraction first hand. Younger enthusiastic members new to Ferrari and then empty nesters moving into retirees will make up the core active group.

Diversity and mass of events will attract smaller groups of more people overall. Maybe a special couple events a year could attract a lager group at once.

I am not trying to dominate. Just asking a few Fchatters to come out and try a event. Nothing more nothing less.

Rob, you would know so much more then me. Thank you for the input. I truly appreciate it. You cannot Blame a guy for trying lol.

I would attend more events, but as said above, I just don't have the time with work and 5.75 children. No yachts for me though. Just a few other cars.

I'm an active member in the Porsche club as well. The people who want to do events will do them. I wouldn't lose sleep about not getting them to try out events. The clientelle between Ferrari and Porsche must be a little different. Those who come out to FCA DFW events are very similar to those guys who come out to the PCA events...enthusiasts who want to drive their cars, meet similar people, and maybe do track events. I'm sure the extremely wealthy who have Ferrari's as art don't show up, but what do I know?

Do I have to do a used event (i.e. previously planned and done) before I can do a new one?

I think as a club member, I am offered a fantastic array of events, that are well thought out and planned to be interesting to a broad audience. Granted that audience is comprised of car enthusiasts, so that will always be the focal point. As a group, all that can be offered is the opportunity to attend, it is up to the individual to make the most of those opportunities.

Not all Ferrari owners are enthusiasts and may not wish to surround themselves with those that are, others may not have time, or the hundreds of other possible reasons for not attending. Honestly I wish could attend more, but working 70+ hours a week tends to put a damper on that at times.

I've been a member of boring, no event car clubs, the DFW-FCA is certainly not one of them.

Did this thread get edited? Or is it duplicated somewhere else? I was going to quote my earlier comment and try to explain it better so it didn't sound so much like a D bag...

Anyway, I think it would be fun to go to an event sometime just to see what it is like, but I'm a long drive away and don't have a lot of spare weekends...

I feel like I don't fit the "profile" much. I love Ferraris, but not fanatically or exclusively. I am not a race car driver. I like all the sensations of driving the car - visual, tactile, and auditory, but I wish it did not garner such attention. I don't have a collection or a yacht. I don't have wild parties, nor did I ever. I have been married once to the same woman over 27 years and we still really enjoy each other. I tend to have a very small circle of close friends, although I have found that I enjoy the banter here on FChat.

    That's my 2 cents worth

    John

    John ,

Yes, I also posted this in the silver forum. Just trying to get information from more people. Thank you for your input.

The description you have is probably around 80 percent of our members. Just normal people that enjoy hanging out, joking around and have the cars in common. If you do get a free weekend just and want to come out. Just know you have a open invitation.

You just described me, down to the 27 year marriage!

I point that out because I've found many of the activities of the club to be relaxing and enjoyable, with minimal pressure. What surprised me 4 years ago when I first entered the Ferrari "community" is that there are plenty of folks like you and me who aren't super-rich or super-snotty. Maybe I've been exceedingly fortunate, but I've found mostly the opposite, particularly folks willing to help when I have a new Ferrari problem.

So do come give us a try when you see something that appeals to you. The monthly breakfasts in Ft. Worth and Dallas are casual, low pressure affairs. The drives, such as the one today, are more spirited but fit in between a lot of casual conversation at the beginning and the end.

Hope to see you some day!

    Charles

Lol, thank you for the kind words. I could not do any of this by myself. I truly appreciate all the members contributing so much. They are the reason the club is successful. There is no strength in a single piece of silk. It is only when you weave many together to make a rope.
