I also looked at the red GT4 bought from Cavallino.

Are you going to leave the paint as is with the "patina" it has developed, or are you going to do a re-paint?

    Enjoy!

A car can only be original once.

Patina is good. The more I read about preservation classes and the lengths some serious collectors go thru to find unrestored cars my thought is a repaint will make it another restored gt4 rather then the unique original it is.

That certainly is one nice looking GT4, the wheels really go well with the car. Congrats and enjoy the ride.

Another post showed that Paradise garage 308 on eBay. There was discussion that "we have talked about that car before". Does anyone know specifics on that car? Also, what is Paradise asking for it?

Really I am just dreaming, but I do plan on getting one some day.

I'm the one who mentioned "we talked about it" and other chatters said yes, but I did a search on FChat and I can't come up with the thread. I could have sworn we discussed it before.

Unfortunately, I don't recall the discussion, but I don't think the car has a "checkered past", but I do seem to recall the FChatters thought it was priced high considering no rebuild and no service history. However, don't hold me to that.

If I find it on search, I'll post.

PS You do know there is at least one blue Series 1 GT4 in Ft. Collins.

I found the post, thanks. Dave referenced it above.

I have never seen a GT4 in Fort Collins. For that matter, I have seen very few Ferraris in Fort Collins.

I have been in love with Ferraris for as long as I can remember. I recently took a new job and across the parking lot is Scuderia Ramparte so I see Ferrari's every day now!

Today he has a 400i, a F355 and a 365 GTC parked outside while working on some vintage models inside.

    I need a drool bucket.

JF308's GT4 showed up at Scuderia Rampante! Yep, the same one this thread introduces!

I can vouch for the fact that it looks brand new! Nice car!

Congratulations New GT4 owners. Those cars are all very nice and I am very happy for you!!!

I just want you guys to remember I was one of the few guys heralding the GT4's before they recently became in vogue. For years we GT4 guys were the ugly little secret in the corner of the room, or car show. I remember one Ferrari guy telling me, "Well they make great track cars." Through the efforts of myself and a few other brave cheerleaders we all can finally come to the table as not only equals but with what I firmly believe is one of the best overall (if sadly misunderstood) Ferrari designs ever.

The GT4 boasts; great handling, 4 carbs, unique looks, great driving position, great 360 degree visibility, ease of service access, usable trunk space, great sound, did I mention great handling!

Our 30 years of wandering in the desert is over my friends, we can now come out of the shadows and proclaim, "Long Live the GT4!" "Long Live Enzo Ferrari!"

A few unknown tidbits on the GT4. The design was originally penned for the Uracco, but Lamborghini regected the design penned by Marchello Ghandini and was swooped up by Enzo Ferrari who actually had a mock-up made which he personally used to determine what he thought was the optimal driving position. Niki Lauda who was World Champion in 1975 the same year Ferrari won the Constructors Championship, helped tune the GT4's suspension, much like Michael Schumacher did on later model Ferrari's.

What is really weird is that I was born on the same day Dino Ferrari died in 1956. My natural parents were always jealous of my spirital father, and Enzo Ferrari wrote me several times over the years sending autographed pictures, starting when I was 13! I remember seeing my first Ferrari in the early 60's and getting on my hands and knees in front of it like a an object of worship! I also remeber my first encounter with the GT4 at the LA Auto Show in 1975 and my first attempt to buy one right before I left to go to the Ferrari Monterey Historics in 1984, and my success in finally achieving my dream at the Ferrari Monterey Historics in 1994! Do I believe in reincarnation, not sure but I was told I cried in Italian at my birth.......

Here is my Hero, The greatest man of the 20th Century!!!

    Thanks Robert,

I can vividly remember the first time I saw a GT4. It was in dark blue, it was parked in the little village where my parents live, I was around 12 years old (so around 1982) and I felt disgusted by that weird looking excuse for a sports car. I clearly remember thinking "and THAT is a Ferrari??????".

I don't recall seeing another one until about 2 years ago. I was 35 years of age then, and looking at F 400's. The dealership where I was looking at two 400i's had one 208GT4. It got my attention.

Over the next two years, I started reading and reading and reading on the GT4, and the design started to grow on me. At first, to me it was a corney 70's design. By the end of last year, when I bought mine, I really liked the looks. Now that I have had her for about half a year, I am hooked on the design. To me, it is one of the prettiest Ferrari's around. Better looking - IN MY EYES - than the GTB/GTS, better looking than the 328, 348, 355 and everything after that. I'm too young (according to my girlfriend) for a Daytona or 250 GT Lusso (nor have the money for one), and like the GT4 more than anything that came after her.

    I've found my dream car.

And would you believe it - she's the exact same color at the one I really disliked at age 12... :D

I would like to add my name to this collective list of champions of the "boxy" Ferrari. Ever since I first saw one, it was a must have aspiration. It just looks rightly proportioned and it's uniqueness among the brand stands out. I have been telling people about the car forever only to be looked at askew at FCA meetings as if those "in the know" where observing a child that "wasn't right". I pleaded with many who were looking for a first Ferrari to get a GT4 as the ultimate smart buy.

I even tried so hard to justify buying a total basket case GT4 a couple years back just to save it from destruction or parting out. I just couldn't justify the cash to revive this old soldier.

Yes, I did not follow my own advice only because I have limited garage space and have a lust for those Series Speciales. But the moment I get a chance, I aspire to add a GT4, however, even if I don't my admiration for the car never waivers. You owners are a lucky group. One day, I'll kick myself for not buying Dave's car. :p

interesting full-circle story. you needed to mature a bit to appreciate what the GT4 really means and stands for. it is a beautiful design in it's own right that stands apart. that the car you have is the same color as the one that you saw years ago is a symbolic statement of destiny. the progression follows like a short movie.

    enjoy.

Owning two Mondials prior to this, your preaching to the choir!!
Drove the Mondial and the GT/4 today, it was very interesting.
After driving the GT/4, I thought the Mondials clutch slave cylinder was gone or something!? Then i realized its just so much lighter in feel. Not that the GT/4's has a very heavy feel to it, just relative to the Mondy.

Interesting about the GT/4 being penned for Lamborghini originally.
