You know you drive a Maserati when....

you frequently see your co-workers staring out into the parking lot from office windows.

your co-workers frequently ask you questions about your car.

hillbillies think you are a millionaire even though their SUV cost several times what your 80's Maserati did.

the local independant foreign repair shop that has served you for years no longer wants to service your car.

you find that auto glass shops are afraid to replace your windshield and make up interesting excuses as to why they can't replace it.

you never get tired of talking about or looking at your car.

you never sell your car regardless of how many problems it may cause you.

you look forward to every drive with anticipation of a thrilling drive.

the leather interior still smells great after 20+ years.

you come to realize that your car is a lot like a beautiful woman ;)

true. Maser handles terrificly, no doubt. starigtline-forget it, the 55 would put 2-3 cars lengths up to 120+. if modded even slightly, may as well put Maser in park. Maser is one of the most beautiful and has great styling/performance. the 55 is a monster, esp if mods-nothing short of super-exotic would have a chance from dig/slow-roll to 1/4 mile +. modded/stage 1 (ecu/pulley) 55's run mid/high 11's and 120-122 trap in qrtr; stock 55 run 12.2's and 116-118 trap. go to dragtimes.com and see for yourself (z06 territroy etc.)...and they handle very very good-even in twisties. colleague at work has a 55 and have been along for a ride many times...f-360/430 handle great as well, but 1/4 mile too, they have little chance (430 better, but would lose more than it would win). it is true, diff cars. most typ 55 guys are mod nuts (car enthusiasts) and enjoy the off-the line-brute force of car and comfort the benz alloys. it's a marvel and a beast. end story. :)

thanks for data; think the Maser GS not much diff versus basic saloon (there is data from C&D). now find a RENNtech/Kleemann stage 1 (ecu/pulley +); they run 11.6-11.8 and trap 120-121. point is, the Maser is beautiful and handles wonderfully; a 55, esp. if modded, is pure down low dig to 120 mph+ beast; styling is beautiful too and they handle very very well. the Masers are great cars though, no question about it.

    stock 55's run 4.5 0-62, modded 55's prob 4-4.2.

Shouldn't you be over on some Mercedes site? How old are you and have you ever driven any of these cars?

That Maser is owned by a guy who goes by Swiss-Maserati at ************.com. He's performed some mods to his car, but it's basically a street car. ECU reprogram, changed the exhaust and put a stiffer suspension and better anti-sway bars, ala' Trofeo. All in all, pretty impressive!

When you get mad at commercial for a brand new $7,000 Honda that comes iPod ready.... because to get an iPod hooked into your $130,000 QP it costs you $1,500 and a entire day at a professional car audio place.

If iPod compatability is what's important to you then you've selected the wrong car.

I think you guys may be confusing car capability with driver lack of ability. The Maserati coupe is not a good track car (compared to the ones mentioned) even when highly modified. Is it fun and fast? Of course.

You are stuck in traffic, the hottie in the Mercedes is giving you the thumbs up,

    and....

You can't find the switch to roll down the passenger side window before her car moves out of talking to range.
