I sometimes have to put my car door against the door of the other car parked beside me..........when you place it there carefully and slowly, it does not mark the panel. There may even be a hair of daylight between the edge of the Ferrari door and the Infiniti panel anyways. Can't tell.

    Nice color for a 456.

As KDS said you cant quite tell if its touching or not.

However I dont think Ferrari owners , generally speaking, are any more considerate than anyone else. They just have more money.

In response to the title of this thread what does the person being a Ferrari owner have to do with anything? Are there no bad/disrespectful Ferrari owners on the planet? Just because this person has an expensive car whether it’s a Ferrari or not doesn’t automatically mean they’re not a jerk or that they care about their car or anyone else’s property.

Sorry, I guess I should have written the story.
Yea, he hit it pretty hard. I was sitting in my car waiting for my friend for lunch (the one behind the Ferrari as he backed in)
He just let the door swing and it hit the car, bounced and came to a rest against the G35. As he was sitting there waiting for his friends and talking on his phone, for a second, he even put his foot on his door on the inside.
Lightly or not, I just thing it's out of respect for other people's property. How would you feel if you came out of the mall and found someone sitting on your hood but they "sat down gently and slowly, as not to "mark the panel"

true, I'm not baggin all Ferrari owners, my brother in law has several. I'm just saying that when you have something that expensive, you'd think people would take more care of it. Then again, I guess you see famous people trashing stuff all the time cause they can just buy more stuff. I guess I just feel bad for the G35 guy. Car people should stick together. If it was a beat up buick, I guess I would expect it more than from a ferrari.

All it takes is a a good gust of wind and any "possible" space between the doors dissappears as one taps the other.

To me it looks like they are in contact, and if they are, IMHO its just inconsiderate no matter what kind of car someone is driving.

My daily driver, Subaru, has several door dings as a result of inconsiderate people opening doors into it. No matter how many dings it has I'd never open my door into someone elses car, nor would I open my door so that it makes contact with someone elses car. Its simply a matter of respecting others people's property.

    Best regards,
    Dino

Yea, I guess I should have titled this "You'd think a Ferrari owner would be better than this...."
    So sorry for any disrespect.

And yea, it's a sore subject coming from someone who's doors are all scratched up. :(

Dont make the assumption that because someone owns a Ferrari they are a 'car person'. In my personal experience most Ferrari owners Ive met (outside this forum which is not a good representation of the typical owner as obviously someone that comes here IS a 'car person') are snobby rich guys with no respect for anything or anyone.

    Just one persons experience.

Obviously on this forum and at car shows/drives you are going to meet 'car people'.

But here in LaLa Land I doubt most owners even know how many cylinders their car has (though they can tell you what they *over*paid for their aftermarket wheels)

I'd be curious what condition the 456 was in as far as dents etc? Obviously this guy isn't too worried about playing bumper cars based on where he's parked and him swinging his door into the car next to him.

Not as bad as getting your car keyed when it is parked right outside your house.

*Roll eyes*, fine, I hope you come out to a F150 with his door "resting" against yours.
    Lack of respect.

That sucks! :( Hope at least insurance fixed it for you.....

The answer is pretty simple: check to see if there is any damage. If not, well, you're done. If so, the guy is responsible, and here is the proof, including the plate. Paying for the repair to the other car is about the only way you could hope to change the behavior of someone like this. You will never change the attitude.

But if the owner of the G35 never noticed or was told, then it's too late to do anything.

My daily hack is a 1997 M3/4 and some idiot dinged my passenger side rear door the other day and I am pissed. What kind of tool just opens his door and smacks it into someone else's car? These aren't Tonka trucks out here folks, cars cost a lot of money and I don't care what kind of car someone drives, it is rude and selfish to smack your car door into someone esle's car.

That picture of the guy in the Ferrari could be any selfish careless person in today's day and age. They don't care about other people's things. It just really pisses me off. End of Rant.

I think he was merely illustrating how disrespectful it is to rest a car door against someone elses.

Personally, I'd find the door resting against my car just as offensive to find someone sitting on my car fender or hood, and I've seen that with my old 944 Porsche. I had to ask them to get off of my car. I also witnessed a group of women get ON someone's M5 to take pix of eachother, and I stopped them just in time as they left the M5 and they were getting ready to begin their photo shoot with my Ferrari.

    Best regards,
    Dino

I feel your pain. I finally gave up having a nice car as a daily driver. I had a 944 Porsche as a daily driver for many years. I got tired of coming out to door dings, in addition to vandalism, lost 3 or 4 radios, had the car keyed once, egged 2 or 3 times, once had a brick thrown through a rear quarter window (nothing stolen that time), and once found the entire drivers door pushed in 3 inches and marked up with paint from a hit and run taxi cab that must have made a 3 point turn.

Now my Subaru gets its fair share of dents and dings and I'm not as bothered. However, while my Subaru may not be a fancy car, its a sad state of affairs that people have such little respect for their fellow motorists' property.

    Best regards,
    Dino

You would think that a Ferrari owner would be a real car enthusiast and not do something so tacky when opening their door. Unfortunately, many Ferrari owners are just wealthy people with a superiority complex.

Years ago you had to be an enthusiast to deal with and appreciate a ferrari. Now the moderns are so drivable and overstyled, they are fashion acessories for poseurs, the gucci handbag of cars. They still perform well even if the styling is cartoonish, but betwen the new class of ferrari owners, the dealer waiting list game etc I suspect the "brand" will blow out and become cliche uncool. Then we will have ferraris for enthusiasts again.

Sadly owning a ferari these days does not mean you are an enthusiat who appreciates the machine, it has a lot of negative stigma
putting serious car people off, no matter how wonderful the product is. I think the next few years are going to be hard for ferrari now that the stockbroker poseurs are out of the game and all those 360's are depreciating like rocks.

Of course a $60K 360 gives real drivers the chance to enjoy.
