    Hey everybody,

My names Nick. I'm 21 years old and I live in the Northern Virginia area. I have been an avid car enthusiast (more like a superenthusiast, but aren't we all?) for as long as I can remember. I love all types of cars, but i lust primarily for exotics. I absolutely LOVE newer model Ferrari's, Porsche's, Lambo's, Mercedes', BMW's, Lotus', etc..... I am lucky enough to have great parents who helped me buy my subaru and I'm now at cobb stg2 with it, but it just doesn't satisfy my craving for exotic autos. If anyone feels like giving a young enthusiast a ride in one of their fantastic automobiles, I would just love it. If not, I understand, but perhaps you could tell me of any meets that you guys are planning so that maybe I could check them out up close. I've seen them before, plenty of times (It's like some internal compass that points me to the closest exotic), but I've never really sat in a ferrari before and would love the opportunity. Sorry if I come across as a begger, I'm not, I just figured that it couldn't hurt to ask. Thanks for listening all, and enjoy what you have for all its worth...I know I do!

That's the section of the board for your area of the country. When they have a meet of some sort, chances are good it'll be posted there. When they get together, show up and introduce yourself. Be nice, be polite, make it known you'd like to go for a spin. Your time will come. We all started somewhere!

    And welcome aboard.

    Welcome to Fchat!
Join the club and attend the events. You might be surprised... 1 year ago I had never ridden in a Ferrari and now I have ridden in 6 different models.

Your mid atlantic group is a nice crowd to hang around with. Lashss and MDShore348 were in Palm Beach for Cavallino and are friendly enthusiasts. Check out your regional section and take a drive to meet with the group at the next event. Glad to hear you are an exotic enthusiast. If you are heading to South Florida for vacation start a thread there and see where it goes. Many people start 'I am going to be in Miami and what should I do...' threads.
    :)

Wear clean sneakers, and slacks! Nothing scares me more then a potential passenger with a spyderco knife clip hanging out of his front pocket and a pair of dog doody hiking boot!

Very true! I usually have my Benchmade knife clipped in my BACK pocket, but I ALWAYS leave it at home whenever I am going around exotics.

Pens and markers should also stay at home.

Yep the answer is to get to a few events from Fchat and other forums. You get to meet like minded enthusiasts and have lots of fun seeing the best cars out there. The bonus of course if you ask nicely is that you can get rides too. Before 2004, I had never imagined that I'd ride in Ferraris, Lambos, Porsches and a whole list of rare and exotic cars. I have met so many great people and made a lot of good mates through the forums! Go for it and you just never know.

Send some of those 21 year old CA hotties over this way too :D

And thx for the wonderful offer 285ferrari, 328's are gorgeous machines that I would be honored to ride in! Hopefully I'll see you there. Until next time everybody!

Yep, the best thing to do is get to know the local guys. I was at an event when I asked a guy I knew if he could help me find someone who would let me ride along. He introduced me someone who had a black ’99 550. We went to get a quick bite to eat before the first leg of the drive. While we were eating we talked about cars and then he asked me how many Ferrari’s had I driven. I replied none. So after only 15 minutes of knowing this person, he says well here you can drive my 550 and tossed me his keys. I could not believe what I just heard. I just keep saying, are you sure? He just started giving me a hard time by saying don’t kill it when you start her up. After letting her warm up and out on the interstate he tells me to get going. Feel the power! So I did. As long as I live I will never forget that day!

So true I lost out on a ride in a 430 cause of a hottie blonde. Also every time I was riding along with someone they would tell me, if we meet ladies you will be walking back.

Nice story. I think the owner was very generous to let you drive so soon. I think I would let someone take my car for a drive if I knew them a little more than 15 minutes. Maybe your lunch discussion put the owner at ease.

Wow...good thing I read this thread, would've never known about the meet in Dulles. What are the odds? I hope you don't have to be a member of FCA to go because I'm a little strapped for cash right now....$100.00? uhh...

Before my wife and I (this is my wife’s log in) owned a Ferrari I was all over sites like "Expensive Car.com", Rics Stable, FCA regionals etc. I read about the cars, asked questions and tried to break into the community that I knew I belonged in. One night I was at a bar and I looked out the window and saw a brand new silver 360 pull up. They had just been released and almost no one had one yet, it was my first real look at one. I saw they guy walk in and come just beside us at the bar. I looked his way and said "nice car" he gave me a slightly stuck up look and eked out a cold "thanks". Ignoring the cool reception I asked him if it was a six speed or an F1. His eyes lit up. "it's a six" he said with real interest. We proceeded to talk Ferrari for the next 15 minutes. Finally he said "you wanna see it?" We walked to the car outside the window and he opened the rear bonnet and the doors so I could sit in the car. I was in awe! After 15 minutes of gabbing it up he threw me the keys and said "take it for a spin". I politely said no but I said I would invite a ride in it. He was so kind, left his front row spot at the bar to take a guy he didn't even know for a ride in his car. I have never seen him again but I will always remember that. That's a Ferrari guy never to be confused with a guy that owns a Ferrari. True story.

Very true. There are lots of guys that own Ferraris, but few that own Ferraris and are Ferrari guys. Giving strangers the opportunity to drive an exotic is not required to be a Ferrari guy, but that certainly is nice.

Just start out in your regional section. I posted a thread in mine seeing if i could ask a few Fcar owners some questions for my school newspaper. I ended up going for two heart pumping rides in a 360 Modena and an F430 in the same morning :)
