Me, too, however it then changed to Lauda/Ferrari, then Giacomelli/Alfa-Romeo, then Villeneuve/Ferrari, then...
It is impossible for me to separate the word *elf from Jackie Stewart, starting with him piloting Tyrrell-Matra *wrote "elf" everywhere, as did Jeff & Kenny . . . Image Unavailable, Please Login
1989 Ferrari, the V12 640, Mansell and Berger (two exciting drivers to watch!), just had that "magic" for a kid just getting into F1. been a Scuderia fan ever since Image Unavailable, Please Login
I didn't start watching until the mid-80's when I was 12 or 13. At that time it was a Camel yellow Lotus with a certain Brazilian driving...
My team has always been Ferrari. My favorite driver comes and goes. Some of my favorites, Hill, Lauda, Tambay, Prost and of course Shumi.
Same. I started watching around 95 or so, but didn't really get into it until the last 8 or so years. Ferrari has always been my fav, but I really liked the BMW's with Kubica/Heidfeld.
Spyker.... Don't hate me please....it was my first serious year watching the sport, and they were the underdogs with the ****in' SWEET livery!
Hey, Larini was on the podium 33% of the time when he drove for Ferrari! First favorite team was Benetton. Saw my first race in '89 and loved the look and robust sound of the V8 Ford. Nannini would have been great if not for his accident.
I was drawn in by a lot of the cars as a little kid (6-8 years) but my first favorite driverteam combo was Villeneuve & Ferrari, and then probably Lauda. All that time I also loved the Andretti JPS as well as Jim Clark's Lotus. In the late 70's I started building 1:20 Tamiya models and really liked specific cars, like the Ligier JS11, Williams FW07 and Brabham BT46 & 49.
Team Lotus with Mario at the wheel of the Lotus 78 and the following year winning the championship in the Lotus 79. Hooked on F1 since. Had I been old enough, I'd say the same thing would have happened with Graham Hill in a Lotus as well. Feff
The Great Mario Andretti in the beautiful JPS Lotus 79...still brings a smile to my face To me still the greatest paintjob I have ever seen on a car with the black and gold JPS livery. Frank Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Williams the first team that got me hooked, but then Lotus brought out their active suspension and seeing Senna outdrive everyone with fewer tyre changes on a bumpy Detroit circuit and that was it for me It does frustrate me that the techological progress from then is now history - that active suspension technology had promise of real world applications - what F1 should be... OK - off soapbox now
