Picked up a 4GB drive 1/2 year ago & still it sits, mocking me from it's clamshell blister package. I, for one, would appreciate 4GB of inspirational ideas!
It is one of the better ways to transport a number of high-res jpg pictures from one PC to another. Modern cameras have high-res pics > 4mb each, so it is impractical to email a 100 of them to someone. Burning a CD/DVD is too slow & too much work. And trying to upload 500 mb of pics at a time to a photo website like flickr is a pain.
I have a 2GB one. I use it for coursework, writing out documents and essays, I back it up on that, and the computers in the computer labs on campus, you can just print it straight off. Transferring files is much easier, you don't have to download the program again. A friend of mine has a usb port in his car, he plugs it in, and has his music on there.
Have some OS fun - install Ubuntu Linux on it just to play with a different OS: http://www.debuntu.org/how-to-install-ubuntu-linux-on-usb-bar Jedi
Copy the install image of your OS cd to the usb stick to have a quick bootable disk incase your primary disk goes kaput. On macs I've used disk utility to create a bootable image on a USB stick to load mac osx which is faster than from the DVDs. Shaves of 35 mins of install time, if you have a family pack osx, makes it easy to upgrade. I use 16 GB stick, partition it into 2 chunks. os on one, whatever on the other.
I was gonna use it, then I just ended up staring at it for a couple of hours with a silly grin on my face. A James Raynor 2gb dogtag, so unbelievably epic. I think it is supremely epic. On a sidenote I have occasionally used my mp3 as a usb drive for data storage and transfer Image Unavailable, Please Login
Google for portable software. Never have to install anything again. Just run it straight off the USB drive.
Check this cool site out http://www.pendriveapps.com/ I use it mainly to backup my apps. Great to troubleshoot other peoples computers too with the apps
