    Qualify it first:

On foot--I'd pack up as much food and water as possible, a knife, flashlight, batteries, tent and my dogs. Kinda like going camping. All the other s**t can be replaced.

By car--I'd add personal items like photos, I guess my guitar, CDs, some racing collectibles (Enzo, Gilles, Senna) and maybe try to grab some extra gas.

I live not too far from Sacramento. Califorina is earthquake country through most of the coast, but if worse case some fault line were to branch off an cut through here making this area a national disaster area, I'm prepared.

Most valuable items are ready to go on moments notice in their secured undisclosed location.
    * ID records/Investment data/Cash and USB Jump Drive with all the data I need.
    * Colt AR-15 with bag of ammo and extra magazines

I'm out in less than 15 to seek a habital location.

Considering these are personal and material items, I'd take the following:

    (1) One 20 guage shotgun w/shells.
    (2) Insurance paperwork.
    (3) Photographs.
    (4) As many MREs as I could pack.
    (5) Change of socks.

I live in California also, about 60 miles North of Los Angeles.

    Most valued to me:
My baby son, wife, mother and father.

option 1 or 2..we would be ready to go in 15 minutes or less.

I would load them up into my suv, pick up the cash and Glock, aks-74U from my home safe. Then drive down to the airport(about 5 minutes away..I can see it from my house on the hill). Then board my Gulfstream G550(God has been good to me..also hard work) and fly off to a safe location.
If the runway is screwed, then I will back up the silverado hd2500 crewcab 4wd and hook up the Alpha Toyhouse 5th wheel(39ft.)

5th wheel has all the goodies inside(Nera NWC Voyager-Global Satellite Communication, generator, food, water, fuel, atv's, pwc and much more..it's alway's ready to go) Plus it would not take me to long to load my weapon's and ammo....I would expecially bring my favorite...aks-74U w/75 rd drum..

but I hope it never comes down to this

VCMMC, you gave the model on your plane and your silverado, but no descriptors on the SUV and the Glock. I feel cheated. :(

However, I find your humilty and your admission that a higher power may also be at work uplifting and inspiring. Cheers! :)

im only 17 so i figure my dad would take care of batteries/food/water/all the important stuff but i would check it over and get anything he missed

but of my personal stuff: Rosary, Bible, CDs that have pics of most everything we own, for insurance sakes (thats 1 of my jobs so dad would have nothing to do with that), ipod and wall/car chargers, hard drive, photos, wallet, cell phone and chargers, personal directory of addresses etc, digital camera, latest Forza and R&T, Mario Lemieux signed and game-used hockey puck, pillow, and if at all possible, my guitar and its accessories

Wow, I feel old. When I was 17, there existed such mysterious things as:
    rosary
    bible
    photos
    wallet
    hockey pucks
    pillow
    guitar

    But unheard of were:
    ipod
    wall/car chargers
    hard drive
personal directory of addresses (though there existed mysterious little black books said to contain numbers of real, live women)
    Forza (we had forts)
Mario Lemieux (would have been a 1/2 Italian, 1/2 French cat - maybe)
    signed Hockey puck? (wha-?)
Guitar accessories (known as the one pick rattling around in the belly of the beast.)

I dont really have anything that valueable to me that I would have to take it, perhaps my gold chain that my great grand mother bought before I was around. But really other than that I cant see much being of value, what are you going to do with an X-box in a disaster like that? and government bonds? they may not be worth anything at the end of the event. I mean, you would grab some food, water, extra clothing. But if your walking around, and stuff is going nuts and you have something of value would you not be concerned that some people would try and grab it off you?
