I did a lot of extra stuff over that. I also had some custom fittings made, new belt, adapter bracket for the new compresser, new mounting hardware, and paid someone to vacuum and charge since I did not have the stuff to do it myself.

And the re-built Yorks don't last as long as new (and prices have gone up in the last 12-months so a rebuilt is now $200 and new is $279) and besides I put on a Sandan rotary which is much more effecient and helped ease losing some effeciency by going to R134. But as I said, not everyone is a DIY'r and I wanted it to look good. I could have done what you did for about the same money, but in the end decided an AC that works really well was a good thing in Houston! ;)

    Bull****.

Again I'll ask, if your car is a Euro, why does it have all the US Stuff on it (bumpers, lights, fume recovery system and no DOT papers). I'm just asking the questions a prospective buyer is going to ask and if you want $35k, you'll need good answers to these questions.

Are you saying that the information about the Euro models in The Complete Ferrari V8 is incorrect? I think not!

Actually some of his produciton numbers are off and it's been noted on this site more than once. And is that your basis for calling it a Euro? If you had something from the Factory OK, but a book reference is not going to cut it (you can get the original car info. from www.owners.ferrari.co.uk - go get it and tell us what it says - and it will help when you sell the car).

I'm just asking the questions a prospective buyer is going to ask you. If you've got a Euro, WHY does have the US Bumpers, side markers, etc on it? I mean, why would someone go to the trouble of importing a Euro car, then putting all that stuff on it when you don't have to (I've seen plenty of Euro's for sale, at dealers no less, that have the Euro bumpers and lights and are dry sumps).

You're looking for concours money for your car but it's not concours. You're AC does not work (do you have all the hardware, including those funky Metric Fine thread/English Course thread studs for the Compressor) and will it work when installed? Better get it in and make it work. Is that single dist. an electronic or points/condenser set up. If it's points, it's not a big value difference over the twin set up.

You mentioned earlier that you were going to re-do the suspension, but it's not done yet...Well, if you want to sell it then you'd better get that done.

The only '77 I saw sell for over $30k in the last two years was TSpringers car. It was blue/tan and he'd done the belts/tensioners, valve shims, clutch, WP, powder coated the cam & belt covers and I think the air box as well. Cleaned the engine like you've done. Converted the AC similar to what I've done with mine, had a single elec. dist conversion with a Ford V-8 cap...he car was GORGEOUS and I thought about buying it but someone else got it first. And he didn't get what your asking.

I'm just trying to show you that if you want concours money, you'd better make it a concours car - which is going to be tough when it's got 90,000 miles on it and all those issue's others have already brought up.

Sorry if I was being an ****** before, but you're going to get those with the money you're asking. I just don't think you're being realistic. People will look at all you've done and say..hey nice car...then pause when they see 90,000 miles and go NFW...and hold out for a car with lower miles that needs new belts for a lot less money.

Interesting replies guys but my 2 cents...................
Most normal people looking for a used 308 don't give a damm about
a few grand either way or whether it has carbs etc. Our chat group may always be looking for a deal but the average buyer of a car just wants something nice to look at and drive. I have sold lots of old cars and motorcycles and I always prefer dealing with someone who want to just have fun as opposed to enthusisasts always looking for a deal. If the car is nice
you will get $25k, $35k or $40k for it depending on how you market it.
The local market also matters a lot. Case in point I just sold my Ducati
motorcycle. It sat for 3 months on a mailing list with people low balling me and asking crazy questions like what finish (gloss or satin) was on the subframe. I put it in autotrader and it sold for $500 more the 2nd week.
Yes you may find a super bargin somewhere but the effort is nearly
always not worth it. I would rather pay more than fly to look at a car. Ebay prices are also way to low and thats because you are taking a big risk as many people have found out. Its nearly always better/cheaper to find a car you like locally that you can drive first etc. Also so what if you pay a bit more than someone else the idea is to have fun driving the car. I guarantee you most new buyers of Ferraris do not care about the price and whether one dealer is bit cheaper!

That would be my one. I actually paid $32,500 for it and felt it was a fair price. Its not perfect but its been fun and reliable and that's what counts. I think another pale blue car just sold her in Atlanta. for just under $35k it was a very nice car as well. Any decent 77 308 at $30-$35k is well worth it...........

Decent '77 308's can be had for $26-$29k. You paid a premium for yours for sure but from what I could tell talking with Terry, and in the photos, IT was worth it. Most aren't.

If I could have found one they really aren't that easy to find locally. Time is money to me so no way was I going to run all over the place and I wanted a blue one anyway. Someone has offered me more for it since then and it was a legit offer but I am keeping it as I think the early 308s are great value right now.

i recently bought a pale blue car in atlanta. paid almost what you paid, and i think it was worth it as even the FoW guys thought the car was remarkably clean. 308s are hard to find in lovingly-cared-for condition. as these cars get cheaper it's hard to justify big dollar repairs and services. my advice is to find a car whose owner really loved it and put in the time and effort to keep it fit; if you end up paying way over average, you're still ahead because you got a car worth having for the long term.
