I had a bottle for the first time last night. At $1.99 a bottle, I was pretty impressed. It was not a bad red for a table wine and I enjoyed it as much or more than half of the bottles between $8 & $12. Your thoughts? This bottle has got to be a hit in the skid row wino community, replacing Night Train, Boones Farm and one of my favorites, Thunderbird!

I haven't seen it here in Idaho wich is strange because cheap alcohol is popular here.

Out our way, it turns into 3 buck Chuck, where it has a REALLY hard time when it comes up against something like a Rosemount grenache shiraz that can be found on sale for $4.99.

if you're talking about charles shaw from trader joes, then absoutely.

you can't beat what you get for the price. the merlot isn't bad at all.

it's still quaffing wine, but decent quaffing wine nonetheless.

I too enjoy watching Sanford and Son.

Most people in VA don't understand the humor in it.

    Best,

From what I understand 2Buck Chuck is just as good if not better because the company that produces the wine will purchase excess “crop” from some of the highest quality vineyards in No Cal. Because they purchase for such low cost they can pass it onto the consumer. Thus 2 buck Chuck!!

I'll admit it, I'm a Charles Shaw fan. In fact, I usually pick that over some of the other stuff my g/f will pick up at TJ's.

I typically buy around $10-$12/bottle through Geerings & Wade, rated 90 or better. Had some $2 Chuck at a friends house the other evening - my stuff is better, but not 5 to 6 times better, and certainly by the third or fourth glass it pretty much all tastes the same.....

    Cheers
