here's a general tech question for you guys

i've noticed that when i post up a youtube vid to play, sometimes the link i post doesn't show as a viewer in the post?

i've checked that the tags are in place ....i also open the vid and recopy the url tag straight from the vid, but that doesn't always work either

is there a trick i'm missing??

    here's my example:

It's not a "legitimate" link to youtube - While it gets you there in order for it to be included "inline" I believe the link must be "www.youtube.com......" Then the parser catches it.

    Here's the "real" link:

    Cheers,
    Ian

^^^ correct. To solve this, it's always best to just search YouTube for the title of the
video you want to link to - that way you'll get the correct www.youtube.com
    address for embedding.

okay? weird, as i used the embedded url, so i figured it was 'legit' :D ...being under the video, "share" button provided

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyBz92bgnGw&feature=youtu.be

^^ okay, this is the web address copied from the IE top left bar, but it doesn't show in view either? and yet it's a "www.youtube.com" address?

just copied Ian's link from above post, and it looks like i still need to edit from above IE address, the "&feature=youtu.be" for it to work like below?

it's weird, because i run into this every so often, and haven't been able to figure out why? still weird?

I guess I'm not sure what's going wrong - I've posted more than a hundred
YouTube links over the years with nary an issue.

Wish I could be of more help

I must agree... it does seem weird. Must be something with the parser in this software

i had to look up parser :) ....is that what 'writes' the address we see assigned? ...it's odd how in the first example, it works, but if i delete the last portion?

oh well, guess some of mine will work, some won't :D

ya, i learned that of the first example ...had never noticed it before? ...it's weird, because that is the url resulting when i right mouse click "copy url" ?

it's the copy of the browser address, that requires a portion to be removed in order to work, that is just plain weird!? :shrugshoulders:
