Here is a YouTube video that shows how easy it is to remove the steering rack from a 1985 308. It is about 8 minutes long. I posted this in another thread in the 308 section but I wasn't sure anyone would ever find it buried in the thread so I am posting it here.

Nice video. I could not help but laugh when you were under the car removing the rack and I herd the phone ring in the back ground. It happens to me all the time!

+1. And the phone - when mine rings its invariably my wife calling for something pointless. So now I bluetooth to avoid the aggravation of extricating and answering w.slimey hands :)

Well remember that the video did not include the time to remove the second lower bolt, the second upper bolt or the second tie rod end. In addition it actually took me about ten minutes to get the first tie rod end loose. So make sure to budget at least half an hour for the job. ;)

Yeah, notice how all the bolts were already loose, lol. And I didnt hear any cussin either.

I used to have a phone in the garage, not anymore. I'll kill anyone that brings the cordless out or tells me I have a phone call. Doctors dont answer phones in ER, I dont know why working on your car is any different. Call back. Leave a message.
