Haha, this looks NOTHING like a Fiorana. Look at the engine, and the interior! I love the 'Ferrari manufacturer plate' which says 'Not manufactured by'. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&category=7251&item=4564686784 Unbelievable!! If he spent $60k on this POS he could be that much closer to a real one.
I thought it looked pretty good! Come on, admit it, he did a nice job. Was spending 60k$ on it silly - absolutely. But he built it 5 years ago, and 355 cost quite a bit back then. For 20k$, this would be an interesting toy. In light of all of the other lousy replica's, this one looks great. And the ferrari badging is cute! (ie. "Not manufactured by Ferrari.")
I would buy 2 of them!!!! So I can run both of them head on into each other and never have to see one again.
Looks fairly good for a replica. He did even the interior to some degree. It's easy to make fun of the finance side of things (spending 60k when you can buy one for that money), but that's really his problem, not ours. He'll get back what the market pays. Some people do replicas not just for monetary reasons, but because out of passion for the brand. What's wrong with that?
Nothing at all...but, if he truly had 'passion for the brand', why defile it by bastardizing a Fiero and badging it as a Ferrari? This would only serve to dilute the brand, and honestly, I think insult the marquee. Make a nice shrine in your garage or something...put up some posters... but, don't make a 'wannabe'.
Let's see, if you really wanted a 355 spyder and you had the skills to build body panels, apply paint, fabricate structure and components, why not buy a wrecked 355 spyder and fix it? It doesn't make sense to sink 60 grand into something that will depreciate faster than the original 355 spyder. What can this car be worth two years from now? It has a GM v-6 and Fiero mechanicals for pete's sake.
Oh Mario....a man (and owner of a 360) of your stature should not stoop to saying such things. Coming from you, it's just disgusting and low-down. Sheesh. Please...allow me: I'd buy two of 'em So I can run both of them head on into each other and never have to see one again The reality of the situation is that it's pretty impressive for a reproduction...if one merely has but $18,000 to spend, this might be an option. Then again, one might be on crack.
It's not bad as replicas go, but he could have bought an ///M3 for that money. ///M3!!!!!!! The E46 is arguably as good as the 355 (don't flame, ALMOST as good and easy maintenance.) As Enzo said "I sella you ze engine and giva ze rest for free" This one has an old GM V6 how can somebody be a ferrari fan and not want the ferrari engine. Now if he built a replica Ferrari with a REAL ferrari engine then I would undestand. As it stands he seems to be more of a Pininfarina fan then Ferrari's.
It's about as good as replicas come. The rear is particularly well done. If you only got a quick look at that thing on the road, you probably wouldn't think twice about its authenticity. 99% of the population certainly wouldn't at a standstill either. Not that I would buy it, but he did a very nice job.
Agreed to all. The public calls my real 308 "Mustang" or "Lamborghini" and a few have to read the badge to know what it is. So the 99% statement is definitely true.
Its the best one on e-bay that ive seen. most look like fiero's with body kits. but again, why spend $60k?
Hey, come on, guys (and gals); he did a nice job (from the pixs), it's listed under Replica / Kits, and besides, he probably learned more about how things fit together than most folks that just buy'em and drive'em. If I lived closer, I'd definitly drive over for a look. It's a hobby for crying out loud!! Where's the love??
The replica is not that bad looking. I am sure it made him happy when he made it and was the most affordable option for him. Did any of your feel like you wanted a Ferrari really bad when you were young? I am 17 years old and want a Ferrari really bad but wouldn't want my first Ferrari not being the real thing. I work for an Auction Company www.randworkman.com and even a co-president of my Concours I founded with a partner of mine, www.scarsdaleconcours.com so hopefully I am off to a good start and will buy 348 TS or 355 GTS in a few years. Maybe I will even use a leasing company like Premier Financial Services or Putnam Leasing. Everyone should enjoy their cars and think about how they got them and where they started out (unless you inherited it) I will certainly appreciate my hard work and fine things later in life and would not put down others for their "not real cars."
