    Hi guys,

I am buying my new car now and am looking in the up to 25K range. Reason is I am going back to Japan in a year and some change and will end up getting rid of the thing anyway. I love to golf and I will use the car for work. There will be some fair amount of driving. I found a nice Z4 and a nice black H3.

    Thoughts? Advice?

    Kind Regards,

Those are in different leagues - I think you need to decide what type of car you need first. If you won't be hauling things or people around, you probably don't need an SUV. You said you will do quite a bit of driving, so maybe good gas milage is also a good thing (NOT the H3). There are a lot of great roads in the area, if you get something sporty you will enjoy them much more

Since it doesn't make much since to have an SUV as a commuter car (70 mile round trip daily), I was actually thinking of replacing my 4runner with a used 2006 325i. It is the new 3 series body style, with the old engine. Gets okay gas milage (25mpg?) but requires premium I believe. They are running ~$25k. Never thought I would be considering an entry level 3, but I do like the new bodystyle and doesn't make sense to get a better model for my use since it will depreciate quickly with the miles I will put on it

Just a thought, but you could get an early e46 M3 for about that. Granted it will probably be a higher mileage example, but it would be a very fun car on the roads around here. I'm actually looking for an e46 M3 for myself albeit a little newer and with less mileage.

Just because you are going to be without F-car doesn't mean you should have to punish yourself to a bad driving car for the next year.
