I have been doing alot of research on cleaning, for my first F-car is on the way. The entire Zainos system sounds great and I know it won the contest that was conducted between 40 + products, but there has to be something said for the quality of Zymol products due to the prices of the estate waxes. Which way to go? Some say polish, some say wax. Can anyone help with the differences between wax and polish. The most important thing to me is what gives the best overall look. Not just shine but deep color also.

(Zymol/Swissol is/are a great product(s) too, but you can get professional quality wax and polish used by the experts for much much less, the markup is in the stratosphere.)

I've used all the Zaino products, but lately I find myself using Meguiar's NXT instead.

Technically, a polish is abrasive where a wax is not. Some keen marketers have blurred the terminology in calling their waxes and sealants, polishes. To further muddle things up, chemical cleaners can loosely fall into the polish category. Klasse All-In-One is one example.

Zaino scored highly on the wax test in due in large part to its durability. If you talk with the guys who did the test, (Steve L. on Roadfly.org) they are quite open in the fact that their wax test is a great guideline, but should not be taken as absolutes. Use the test to spark discussion and ask questions.

Generally, a synthetic such as Zaino and Klasse will be much more reflective than a carnauba. Paint, especially dark, tends to loose a good bit of depth with a synthetic. However, a synthetic will give you far greater durability than a carnauba. For a daily driver, a synthetic is often a better choice than a carnauba.

I think a quality carnauba wax provides the most depth and warmth to paint. Unless you have time to wax every 30-60 days, it's not a good choice on a daily driver as durability is rather short.

I used Zaino all last year, it looked good but I'm not sure if was worth the time and money. I just picked up the Meguiar's NXT wax & polish for this year I've heard good things. I'll post after I've applied it.

While the Zaino system does produce a nice shine, I use it exclusively for my daily drivers, where durability is the main concern. For a Ferrari that's not used every day, I think that better results can be achieved with far less effort by using a carnuba-based wax. I have personally found that Zymol waxes are fine, but not particularly remarkable; my favorite carnuba wax (and one that many hold in high regard, including Steve L.) is P21S. It's fairly inexpensive, is remarkably easy to apply/remove, and produces a fantastic finish.

I like the wax products from www.swissol.com I have never seen a wax that produces a better and deeper shine. I use their Scuderia wax on my BB512i.

I've used Meguiar's NXT and it produced a nice deep shine on my black paint.

I know I'll catch a lot of flack from the purests, but a friend of mine whose car I've always admired turned me on to a fabulous product called Ultra Finish. It's sold by http://www.ultrafinishproducts.com/ When I got the Mondial last spring, I was going nuts polishing it. I tried everything, and the finish looked dull and lifeless. I was complaining to some friends, and this guy brought some over. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! The finish shines like crazy, and the red color came back to life. It even got rid of most of the water stains on the trunk hood and hid the multitude of swirls and minor surface scratches. No wax or silicon involved.

I'm not a "concours" guy. I just like a nice shiny car. This stuff is great, holds up well in the weather, and is extremely easy to apply and remove. I used to be a wax purest. Now I'm sold on this stuff. NAYYY, just a happy customer.

I'm with you Simon. Of course wax & polish is very subjective, but for me NXT works best on my Rosso Nero car.
