They look pretty passive. Where are the cops? We need that German chick to drag them out of the way by their hair.

Zandvoort bracing for Dutch GP blockade threat--

The municipality of Zandvoort says it is in talks with local taxi drivers who are threatening to disrupt F1's Dutch Grand Prix weekend with a blockade protest due to restrictions imposed on their services.

According to Dutch website RacingNews365, approximately 150 taxi drivers may face restrictions in accessing the circuit, which is anticipated to welcome a daily crowd of over 100,000 fans.

A proper certification is required for taxi drivers to gain access to a designated zone outside the circuit, but only a specific quota of 'Taxi-Pass' authorizations has been assigned and distributed.

The limitations that have been decided have arisen following an issue encountered last year by the event's organizers, when taxis illegally entered the restricted zone and wreaked havoc on the latter's organization, according to Walter Sans, a Zandvoort municipality representative.

"In the past two editions they did not get access to Zandvoort, but last year taxis illegally obtained a pass-through ticket and entered the village on their own, where they offered services," said Sans.

"That has caused a lot of inconvenience - problems within our mobility plan. This means that we have announced: know that the rules have been in place for two years and that we are really going to maintain and act on them this year.

"The taxis that are allowed have received a pass-through ticket and are therefore recognizable."

All that's needed is the police to get their ass in gear. They're blocking private properly, that's the end of that story. If the police don't get their ass in gear, private security should be allowed to do the rest.

Personally I'm of the opinion that they should be removed by any means necessary. Give them a warning, if they ignore it, warn them again. Still ignored (which of course they will do), start applying force. Properly.

They're doing the same as a 4 year old that doesn't get what he/she wants. Except these aren't children. They're adults. And they do nothing but fear monger.

I don't know the law of trespass in the Netherlands, but in UK, the police CANNOT evict peaceful protestors from private property*, unless they are mandated by a court at the request of the owner of the land. I bet these protestors know the law too. It's a tricky situation.

*As long as they do not commit other offences, such as vandalising, using force of entry, use threatening behaviour, etc ...

Trespassing on land as such isn't an offence in UK.

Also, we do not have Identity Card in UK.

Zandvoort is absolutely tiny. You can walk it, easily.

No cars are allowed to enter Zandvoort unless they get a special access, you only get that basically if you live in Zandvoort and work outside or are essential to the running of the F1, or emergency personnel.

The trains deliver the people a 5 minute walk to the entry. I can **** forever on the Netherlands but I'll be first to admit for the F1, they've done a superb job on public transport.

I wonder what the reasoning is behind that. I’m assuming it’s cultural.

Identity Card? Like a driver’s license?

It's an ancien law that made trespassing legal. Before, big land owners could prevent people from travelling by stopping them from crossing their property (sometimes the size of a county).

Yep, we don't need to carry an identification.
When driving, a police officer can only stop you if he suspects you have commited a road traffic offence, or your vehicle is signaled as not taxed, or insured or isn't roadworthy. Also a police officer cannot stop you for no reason, such as "checking" who you are, like they do on the continent (profiling), which is a form of harassment.

I would think public roads would make a law like that obsolete.

Probable Cause is a thing in the United States as well, although it's not hard to make up a reason like "It looked like you were swerving." I'm sure that happens everywhere.

The police is very much accountable in Britain, even more now that anybody can video their actions.
There is a lot of respect here for the police, and 95% of them are not armed either..

Anyway, I hope these eco activists in Zandvoort will not stop the GP from happening.
All they want is some publicity for their cause, and the media should give it to them.

    they absolutely should not.

    They're in the news 24/7, 365.

Perhaps a little bit less dooms day, a little bit more actual news for once. They've indoctrinated entire nations and kids walk around crying their eyes out because they're being told the planet will die in (insert the next date it'll end as it's a constantly moving target, conveniently enough).
