    I'm not sure if this is the right forum but it seems that my Yahoo mail acct has been Zombied and people on my address list are being spammed. If anyone has any advice as to how to handle it I'd appreciate it.

    Changing your yahoo password would be a start.

    In the future, purchase a domain name and set up your own email through Gmail. I do this and provide email accounts for my whole family. Doesn't cost me very much either and is much easier to remember since I can use any name I want.

    I've had this address for years and would hope changing isn't needed.
    BTW Only my Yahoo acct was tapped not my Mac.

    Thanks for the clarification. If I were to change I'd just switch everything over to the Mac address. I do wonder if there is something about that address that protects it better or if it was just chance.

    I would think it's just chance, yahoo is more common for an email source than @mac or @me. It probably wouldn't hurt to run a virus/malware/spyware software on whatever windows PC you've used recently to access your yahoo account though.

    Malwarebytes is always a good one, and it's free.

    As far as I know my Yahoo mail acct has only been accessed on macs. My wife checks her Yahoo acct on a windows machine at work but hers is separate from mine.

    You need to create a "strong" password, such as FErrari;!&?39 Also create password hints on your yahoo account that only you know. Remember, that's how Sarah Palin's yahoo account got hacked.

    My passwords are strong and non-contextual.
    It appears that to do this type of spamming passwords aren't needed.

    I don't use yahoo, but if they got your address book, your account was hacked.

    To be sure. It seems that the address book can be copied without use of the password though. Yahoo won't discuss how of course.
