Spotted last night by a friend. Looks like a 250PF Cabrio dolly'd up to resemble a California spider with covered headlights, wide wheels, spotlights, side grilles, front overriders gone and new bumper bar??

Nobody would fake a PF cabrio, so odds on its real. Any ideas?

It would be a Series 2 250GT PF Cabriolet not a Series 1? S1 doesn't have quarter light windows???

You think the rest of the body is the same? I thought the PFII was less curvy but like this it does look pretty similar to the cal spider

I had considered that one as possible but it now has a one piece front bumper.

Hi Andrew....Isn't unusual to see a LHD car in HK or have the rules changed ? Realise they have no choice with this model before everyone tells me.......Happy Christmas paul

Greetings to you Paul. You are correct, you still cannot drive a LHD car in Hong Kong, nor does it look likely any time soon. However, there are a growing number of collectors who are parking nice cars in collections just to look at. And in HK if you don't register a car there is zero tax/duty to pay which makes the territory a good staging post for future resale.
    All the best for 2014
(ps looking for rhd 250swb replica)

Now it's making sense. My PF coupe spent some time in HK in the early 1990's. The file that came with the car has many letters, all similar, but each appearing to be a sort of a permission request for driving the car and each time it's for some "special" event, like club meet, etc. I always wondered what these letters were.

Is there a Hong Kong club for vintage sports cars?

    Regards,

    Andy

PS: That's quite a car on the transporter. That seems to be Central, outside the Mandarin?

This was photographed outside the Manarin Hotel looking at the Princess Building. There are two classic car clubs in Hong Kong. You can import LHD cars and drive them for classic car events about once per month maximum. You cant register a classic car for everyday use unless it is RHD. There is a 100% tax on the car for a first time registration. Only a nutter will do that with a classic Ferrari. I will bring one RHD classic Ferrari that is in need of a restoration to Hong Kong this year if I get my hands on one. It's a lot cheaper to do the body & coach work here in Hong Kong than in the USA or the UK.

Thanks, Thomas. I usually stay at the Mandarin, so the scene looked very familiar. I was just there last week.

Yes, I have some friends with the older classic car club. l was wondering if there were one on spots cars.

    best,

    Andy
