Jeff, that is correct. Here is a link. Look at my post which is the third from the top of the page. I scanned the diagram for a 355. It is "F" and "G". If it is symptomatic you can switch leads really quick and see if it moves to the other side. Or just disconnect. Be very careful because if you do decide to disconnect (and leave disconnected versus switching) and the cat heats up while you are driving, the cat will be toast. Keep driving and you car could be toast, lierally as it can be a fire hazard. link

Thanks for the quick response. Is it east to remove and switch with the other side? By rear of the engine bay I am assuming that it is towards the rear of the car correct?

The placement of the thermocouple ECU's is NOT the same on the 355 as the 348. The ECU obviously is on the Cat on both cars. Trace the wire from the thermocouple at the Cat as it connects to the ECU's (they are located on the right rear corner of your engine bay). I am not near my manual but I am ssure that it has a digram. Again, the ECU's are at the right (passanger side, rear corner of your engine bay).

Come on people, someone must have had this happen on a 355.

OK,I have researched as well as I can and found the same situation with a 348 as I have with my 355. I also found the diagram locating the ECU's and it sounds as though swapping them will tell me if that is the problem. I am not near my car right now and am wondering if the placement on my 355 is the same as the diagram of the 348.
Thanks

No check engine light? No glowing catylists? Try disconnecting the thermocouple ECU, the proceedure is outlined in your seach threads.

Now drive and see if it re-occurs. Keep an eye out for glowing catylists, as nothing is monitoring temperature now.

If this works, it's your choice: replace the thermocouple ECU (which has been updated) or run without, but if you run without, and have a missfire, you'll overheat the catalysts right quick.

Ok, I have tried to find some stuff on this but can't find the same car or situation. Some of the other ones are still having the loss of power after the light goes out and overheating and they are also different model cars. My power loss was for a minute only when the light comes on and all gauges were fine. No overheating or any other malfunction. This has now happened a couple of times but then corrects itself. Please help.

Great, thanks for researching the archives.

After you've read error codes (if any) and made the checks/inspections outlined in the archives, post what you've found in detail so we all can help solve the problem.

I am about to go through the archives but thought I would post anyway. The last two times I took the 355 out (has 8k miles)after about 10 min the slow down light came on and engine went to half power for about a minute and then the light goes out, power comes back and no problem for the rest of the hour I was out. This has now happened a couple times and am wondering before I go searching if someone could give me some advice. Thanks.
