Byron- Yah, I plan on coming on the Des-Drive. I don't know about the other plans. Fill me in. The turbo toy I gotta keep under wraps -not a done deal yet- but it's not what you think... track duty only, and she's not very pretty, but if it's ready by then I'll drag out into the sunlight for the day. Re: pictures... I'm working on getting some webspace to host the pics, and videos (got a few 15-30 second clips... mainly F1 clips, yawn.)

DES: Meeting me, a bonus? Flattery, online, I assume you got my check.

one word: WOW.

haha... I was just down in SD yesterday - didn't know you were back yet. I went to La Jolla, PB, Mission Beach...drove up toward Mt. Soledad... had some dinner at the Fish Market, and made my way back up..

There will definitely be opportunity to catch up... now, more about that "turbo toy"... ;)

oh, and pictures pictures pictures!

Btw, you're coming out to the launch party and drives, right? 7/12!!

Byron! Maranello was... astounding! My European excursion... the story's quite long, but the jist of it went something like this: spain: drank heavily, slept heavily; france: ate some, slept in a ratty hotel, but went to Monaco GP every morning. Life is good; italy: rented an alfa 147 and drove from genova to modena to maranello (saw the factory (from the outside; no ownership = no tour), all the stores, an ENZO, two 360 stradele's (one blue w/ out stripe one silver w/ stripe), I saw every production ferrari, and a new prototype Maserati 4 door.) Saw RB testing the F2003 - GA at fiorano and ate at the Montana ristorante, but also went by the il cavallino ristorante across from the factory gates, etc... then drove to cinqqo terra stayed there, and then drove to roma and flew home, flew into London (had a 12 hour layover) and slept on an airport bench all night - quick note: always bring a hooded sweatshirt, just in case of such a situtation, b/c putting your barren head on one of those cushions... ugh... anyway, on ward- so, after a 42 hour "day" and 15 hours in transit, and some monumental jetlag, I'm home , hungover, and quite broke (jetsetting around Europe is expensive...) I'll fill you in on the rest on the drive, or maybe over coffee? You wanna make a trip down here someday?

Tom, that's funny... same thing happened to me on the last drive (at Matt's)... but my co-pilot was cool about it... she brushed it off and was like, "nope, that was a different girl." :-) cool, eh?

It's ok, as long as it's single threaded... once you double dip, triple dip and expect not to get in trouble.... you're asking for it!

Ok, so maybe i'm a tad slow on the take with some things... i chalk that up to, um... well, nevermind about that...

i'm just realizing that you all are making a separate drive, just for me... That's awesome...! You all rock...! i really can't wait to get there... More and more, i think about moving out there... Aside from the Bird, there's really nothing for me, here... i wanna spend the rest of my life somewhere where everyday feels like Saturday - what better place than California...? :-)

With each passing day, i lose patience in wanting to get out there to meet all of you... If 7/11/03 doesn't get here, soon, i might very well explode...

NOOOOOOOO...!!!

i am the king at passing the buck when it comes to making decisions - especially decisions like this...!
Ask the Bird, she'll verify this... i have so much trouble deciding what to do... i could never make the call on this one... i've never been to Vegas, i've never been to Santa Barbara - i wouldn't even know how to decide... i'm sorry, but i would short circuit a lobe trying to come up with an answer to that... Can someone else please make the decision...? i'm really just pleased as punch to coming out there, so wherever we go is cool with me... :-)

Matt, Byron was right. You are crazy. there is no way to have an enjoyable drive to Santa Barbara- after a drive to Las Vegas.
Take it from someone who entertains a lot. It won't be fun. The only way to fit in Friday night like rock stars, Launch party on Saturday and Vegas. Is to fly to vegas no sleep and then fly back early in the morning. Then the drive to Santa Barbara. I know its in a Ferrari but being in a F-Car 8 hours to vegas and back( I know it can be done in less but with batroom breaks) and back in a 18-20 hour total time period is insane. Then another 6 hours in the car to Santa Barbara and back. Not fun.
I think Des should decide whether he would prefer Vegas or Santa Barbara.

Tom, Ladera Ranch is about 20min south of me, in South Orange County. It's not too far, but you will need a car to get around. We will most certainly have multiple rally points (since I'm in Irvine, probably one will be there), so I'm sure you'll be fine!

I think a welcome drive for Dan is definitely in order!!

Matt, let's not forget the other out-of-town guests that will be joining us as well... Chris from Valence USA (Virginia) and Martin from Cavallino Motors (Florida)!

On Sunday July 13, 2003, we will be welcoming our brother from the east, Dan. This will be a drive to remember.

We will be meeting in West L.A. driving to Santa Barbara up to Buellton, through Solvang and back. You you missed the "welcome drive for Marty" you will not want to miss this one.

Information to follow.

This drive is the day following the "Official Launch of the Ferrari Driving Club"
